Heg
Hi Everyone
I am very new to all of this so please bear with me.
I started having night sweats about 6 years ago at 31 Had them for about three weks and then they disappeared and never came back.I had regular periods and no other perimeno symptoms UNTIL NOW..at nearly 37
Started with night sweats about 6 weeks ago. Just the odd one at first, maybe once a fortnight. I was taking the bcp and in my last 'week off' the night sweats hit hard. I began having between 8 and 9 a night. Waking up soaked through and exhausted by morning. Went to the DR and she did a blood test. All normal and FSH of 1.35. Blood test was done on 5th day of my 'week off ' bcp.
However I am still having night sweats. A good night will be maybe 3 or 4 but usually 8 or 9 every night.
My Dr is going to refer me to an endocrinologist so I have not gone back onto the bcp as I do not want it to affect the results.
Are these symptoms normal? I am at the end of my tether and have only beeen having them for a week!! I am so tired by mid afternoon that I can hardly think straight. Yesterday I had sweats through the day but felt cold and did not get a red face or chest.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
kathleent
I can only reply that my night sweats are really really disturbing any sense of quailty sleep, as you seem to mention! I have had them for 2 months now (I'm 50) and I am awake almost every hour or certainly every 2 hours just sweat and then subsequently cold! It's exhausting and it's impacting me during the day. Right now (3:00 p.m. my time) and I feel like I've been hit with a truck. Thankfully, I have the day off so I can just crawl back into bed which I will be doing soon. It's so frustrating and exhausting! I take no bio identicals or bc pills ... but am about to consider some bioidenticals just for sleep relief. Out of despseration I took 2 tylenol pm's last week (they usually knock me out for at least 9-10 hours) and I still woke up twice during the night. I was shocked! So, it's obvious how "Strong" the hormones/night sweats are for me. I do have hot flashes during the day too - some days one or so and others up to 6 or more. They're not drenching, but definitely "there" and mine are accompanied sometimes by headaches (like now) and/or slight nausea. Oh, the joys! I am confident I will get through this and at the same time, really truly struggle and feel "when" in the midst of it all. Take good care and I am thinking of you! Kathleen
