HI everyone,
18 months ago I developed gastritis (inflamed stomach lining). At the same time I developed palps (PVCs) for a week, then they went away. This coincided with my drastically changing my diet to eating a very few basic bland foods for about 4 months to heal the gastritis. The palps went away after a week - it seems an interesting coincidence.
Now I am over the gastritis, I have been eating normally again for over a year, however the palps returned bigtime all day every day 3 months ago. I am now trying to work out ways of reducing GERD (obviously related) to see if it will ease up the palps.
I noticed the last few weeks that the palps seemed better in the afternoon if I avoided certain foods for lunch. These seem to be foods that I must have a problem digesting. For example, I found when I had tomato for lunch (even skinless), the palps would get worse during the afternoon until I burped some tomato up (sorry to be so graphic), just before dinner. It's almost like certain foods sit in a little pocket in my stomach and irritate that vagus nerve until they are somehow released. High fat foods like cheese and ice-cream (as many people have said) also seem to make the palps worse. I am going to try & eat foods that don't repeat on me and see if that helps.
An interesting thing I read on a palps site was of someone who had liquidised their food for 3 days and the palps had stopped. This is a bit extreme, but as a result, I thought I might try to chew my food more fully and eat more slowly to see if that helps.
Just thought this might give people food for thought (if you'll excuse the pun!)
Anybody else have a view on this?
