Who would have thought I would be giving my mom advice on BHRT? I've always had a close relationship with my mom and have turned to her for advice on so much in my life but I never thought she would be watching me so closely on how I've handled menopause. She is 68 and I am 43. She had a full hysterectomy 15 years ago and I had a partial 11 years ago. The day after her surgery they began her on HRT and she's been on some type since then. I didn't start having severe symptoms until last year and in a matter of 2 weeks my life fell apart. Thus my own search on the internet for what I could do because she was on the lowest dosage that I too began with but it was not enough. My life was still a living hell and I needed more of something.

I then found this wonderful website and all the great women and decided to go thru Bellevue. I have been living a great quality of life these last 7 months and I wouldn't trade it in for the world. My mom on the other hand thought she may be thru with menopause and started weaning herself off HRT- 6 months ago. She was fine for about 5 months and this last month has been absolutely awful for her. She is a woman who looks like she's in her 50's with energy to match but this last month she has been housebound with the exact same symptoms I used to have. She called me yesterday and said she went to her dr. and is now on BHRT. She told me she doesn't know how many years she may have left but she wants her quality of life back. Her last comment to me on the phone was "I now understand what you have gone thru and I love you all the more because of your strength because I have no idea how you could have lived like that". Luckily I only suffered for several months until my BHRT kicked in but I wouldn't trade it in for the world now. So now we both take our little pills and are happy as ever!

Are there other women out there going thru meno with their mom? It's a new experience for us and its nice to have someone so close who really understands.....kathy42

I'm 38 and my mom is 62. She is now post-menopausal and feeling great with no HRT. When I described my symptoms to her, a light kind of turned on for her, and she said, "You know, I remember having the same symptoms when I was your age." Of course back then no one would have even suggested peri-menopause.

Thankfully she totally supports my decision to take BHRT!
