Hi denise,

This has always been one of my worst symptoms. I started with the irregular periods around the age of 35. I'm now 47 and they are still all over the place. Unfortunately in all that time, I think I've only skipped about 4 altogether. Mostly, they come much more often.

Everything I've ever read about peri states this as one of the symptoms. Even my doctor, who I don't think believes in peri, told me "this happens as women get older." Duh!

The worst thing about it is you never know what to plan. Now I don't go out of the house without a full arsenal of liners, pads and tampons! Can't wait till it's done!

Hi Denise

This was one of my first signs of peri (although I didn't realize it then) I went a couple of years of closer together periods. I think from what I've read around here thats pretty normal. They then adventually start getting farther apart. I now go at least 30 days in between. Hopefully a sign the end is getting closer LOL.

Take Care
Cathy

Hey I am new here as well. I am 24 years old, and i started my period when i was 15. i have never had a normal period. when i first started it would be 5 to 7 months before i would have a period until i was about 22 or 23, then for about 3 months, they came rigular, and now i am 24 and haven't had a period in a while, some months. i am still a virgin, so that automatically marks pregnant off the list. so what do you guys think it might be. i never did hurt when i had a period, it just "shuck up" on me. i would bleed for about 3 or 4 days and quit. I have really good health, i have only been to the doctor 4 times in 3 years and that was because of a sinus infection. and i have never been to a gynocologist because i was afraid they would hurt me being that i am still a virgin, also the last week, i have been having "my period" symptoms, sore breast and feeling kind of weak, and this afternoon i had a pinkish discharge. does anyone know anything about this?

smile.gif thank you sll for the input... ineeded to hear that i am not the only one.... now for trina... GO TO THE GYNO..... they will not hurt you... explian to them what you have told all of us.... they will be happy to assist you.... i went into the miliatary at 18 and also was a virgin then... trust me... those drs. are hard core ... i explained to them how scared i was and they completley took care of me.... i did fine and i felt very safe.... i had no pain either and i was glad that i had been checked... so please..... fo to the dr. my mother never took me... i didnt dtart my period until i was almost 17 and i think she should of taken more intrest in me than she did.... however i was diffrent from her and my sister... they both started at 9 years of age... they were not concerned about me... all i ever heard were the late bloomer jokes... so please go to the dr.... there are bigger things to be frightned by... keep reading and you will see that... love to you... denise

Hello everyone. I'm new to this site (heard of it through a friend) and am so glad to find somewhere that can give me so much information about a subject that no one really seems to want to talk about.

I have always had fairly regular periods varying from 32-36 days apart, but this year I had a shock when they started coming every 30 days exactly, apart from one that was after 29 days. I thought at 48 I was too young to go through the menopause but reading posts here shows me that I'm probably about the average age.

I get aches and pains and I get very hot at times, but not hot flushes like some people. Maybe that's to come. sad.gif

Oh and Trina, everyone is right when they stress how important it is to go to the doctor. Every woman should have regular check ups no matter what her age or sexual activity. Just let them know how you are feeling so that they're aware that you're nervous.

BTW, tried to join in Insta Chat but couldn't get on, so to those of you who saw my name appear and said hi, I wasn't ignoring you. I will try to work it out and try again.

I also took Depo Provera for some years - and when I stopped - once started periods - they came too frequently. Past years I have averaged 22 days onset to onset. Last month however I went 17 days. This month went 28 - both really surprised me.
The one that started day 17 was a breeze. The one at 28 was not too bad. Seems the ones at day 21 the worst. I am waiting for my Rx for E and P - and want to ask your opinion on E - in this regard - I know I read about this somewhere just cannot find it:
does the amount of blood you see at your period correspond to Estrogen levels? ie some months very heavy and you feel horrible - some months lighter and you don't feel as badly.
Does that reflect E levels? ie higher E that month means more bleeding - less E equals less bleeding? Or does it all remain the eternal mystery??!!!

Trina please see a doctor. I know its scary the first time but having only occasional periods needs to be checked out. If you really are set against seeing a gyno right now may i suggest you see an Endocrinologist (hormone specialist)? They will help you figure out whats going on. Take care and be well

Trina, let us know what the doctor says. It's so important to get everything checked out. Helps with the anxiety too.
