I read a news article recently that sniffing carbon dioxide into the nose may relieve migraines "in the future". I'm sure some drug company is now trying to find an expensive delivery system for this, but I'm wondering if breathing into a paper bag might help? Anybody who gets a migraine and wants to serve as a guinea pig, let us know the result! (I no longer have migraines since getting my estrogen levels up & steady with transdermal estrogen, so I can't be a guinea pig.) Also, adding naproxen (Aleve) to your Imitrex (or other sumatriptan drug) might be better than just the Imitrex. This news is from this source:

Just wanted to say thanks for the 411. I am one of those that have had significant trouble with migraines since peri. Never had them before. I am not interested in using Imitrex or like meds as I have become very sensitive to meds since peri. It is so frustrating dealing with the various symptoms that come, come and go, or come and stay. As soon as I get used to something and just decide to deal with it as long as it stays, something new pops up. It just doesn't seem to end.

Anyways, thanks again for the info. I will try breathing into a paper bag with the next migraine. I don't mind being a guinea pig, especially if others can benefit. I will post the results. smile.gif

123 and MamaMia,

I tried breathing into a paper bag tonight. Saw Dearest recommended it for migraines. Don't know how long I did it, but it did feel better for a time. Relief was short-lived.

Gonna try it again.

123, thanks for all your posts on this board. It brought so much psycholog. relief to read what you've gone thru and tried.

I've run the whole gamit with migraines, and am currently switching to bio's. I think this has brought on a five day visitation of migrains, and I"m running out of triptans.

I will def. try your rec's concerning estrogens and P.

Thanks for being here! blink.gif wink.gif smile.gif
