I am experiecing another "interesting" sensation. It seems to have come on as my hot flashes/night sweats have increased lately. What I fee is a burning sensation on my back and sides of my arns and my neck. It's not constant - but it's there a lot. It's also a bit "tender" to the touch - like a slight sunburn. I have noticed I have this burning like feeling even when I'm not actually having hot flash/night sweats at that particular time. Like I said, it's very "mild sunburn-y" sensation. It is definitely NOT a sunburn and it is not red or inflamed looking at all - just midly burning. Has anyone had this? Is it yet another part of perim? Thanks all, burning and sweating in Idaho, Kathleen

kathleent,
That's exactly what brought me to power surge...i googled "Burning face" and it brought me here!!!....My DR told me it was a precursor to a hot flash...And she went on to explain that all hot flashes are not the "typical"
Hope this helps

I get a feeling like I have a fever, my skin will feel so hot. Not sure if it's the same with you? I think it's some kind of hot flash.
Definitely hormonal!

Hi Kathleent,
I have been getting thie burning sensation for years and the doctor never said a word. I also kept looking on the internet and then found this site. It was then blamed on nerves and i do notice i get it when im anxious. I also get it before my periods are due. Before i found this site I thought i was going mad except that i descrige it as bad sunburn. I seem to get it on my face, back, chest arms and sometimes my ears. Yes rthere is no redness so no one else can see it. I do blame it on hormones and since i now know so many people get this THANKS TO POWER SURGE It does not scare me as much. I dont get it with a hot flush it is independent but I do get it a lot. Guess what WE ARE NORMAL!!!!! Its so good to know!!!
See ya Renika x0x0x0x

Hi Kathleen,
I've been experincing a feeling like a burning sensation too - it has happened a few times in the middle of the night I wake up and my heart starts racing and my skin feels like it's burning or something. The racing heart I've had on many occasions now but the burning has happened twice in the last month in the middle of the night. So strange and I guess it's yet another symptom of this life transition. It's not pleasant at all and you are not alone.

Hello,
My soles of my feet and the back of my calves burn just as you described like a mild sunburn but they look normal (if dry skin looks normal). Sorry you have this discomfort too.

I'm at a loss to explain my sensation I have on my left arm! It feels as though my skin in an area as big as half the size of my palm "glows" with heat, heats up then goes away. It's the only place so far to do this and I've had it the last 3days. Really weird!! I thought how do I explain this to anyone. No redness, no heat on the skin I can just feel it glow, that's the only way to describe it.
I put it down to peri,I do this with any ache and pain now otherwise I'd be at the GP's every other week with something new. It seems like you get used to one symptom and then some other odd thing crops up. Is it never ending
I thought I'd check here and see if anyone else had something similar so that I know I'm not coming up with some disease as I seem to think with all the odd body sensations!!
Thanks choco

I don't know if this is what you ladies are talking about, but my burning is in my chest but not like GERD. It's more like someone is ironing the underside of my chest and breast skin with a steam iron. It feels hot on the inside but when I touch it on the outside there's nothing. And it's not deep. It's just on the underside, like in the next layer of flesh. It's not really a hot flash either. I've had it off and on for about 6 months, but it's been constant for the last week. I'm going to the gyno doc today. Maybe she can tell me something. I'll pass on any new information I get.

I get that quite a bit, even when the weather is cold. Soda pop makes it worse.

My face/lips ,neck and scalp have been burning now for 4 months. Prempro helps it some. I am able now to function at work. The first OBGYN doc said I am in perimenopause and put me on prempro 0.625/2.5 mg. She never explained any of the side ef fects, just told me this may help. I educated myself and decided that I want to go on BIH instead. The second OBGYN doc said she does'nt believe in BIH. She also said I am in menopause. Isaid how can I if I only missed 3 months of periods. She was an idiot. I will now be going to my 3rd obgyn doc in 2 weeks, also have an appt with an endocrinologist the same day. I have never in my life been to so many doctors. This is crazy. Does any one know of any doctors in Queens/Long Island who prescribe Bioidentical Hormones?

The burning skin thing was one of the first of MANY weird symptoms I have had during this fabulous journey! Mine was in my scalp and then on my shoulder. Now I am having a burning tongue and roof of my mouth and upper rear gums. It starts around noontime and peaks around 6 pm. My periods are much more erratic and hopefully all of this will calm down soon.

Hi Whippetmom, The burning skin thing was also my first symptom to. My face became very red and burned. Went to 6 different dermatologists (all women) and they all said it was rosecea. Not one of them said it could be caused by menopause. It was the 7th doc (an allergist who happens to be a man ) nailed it on the nose and said "go get your hormones checked by your OBGYN. Do you take anything for the burning? Prempro helps me some, but its still there. My face is a bit less red as well. Just wish I could have my life back.

Hi Choco,
I've had this too. I have had it both arms, but not at the same time. It comes and goes. Mine feels like a sunburn. I have also had an awful itchy patch on my upper left arm. Which also comes and goes. I went to 3 different drs, all of whom had no explanation. One did say maybe it was stress.

I finally decided it had to be formication, even though it doesn't feel like anything is "crawling under my skin" as I have seen mentioned on the top 35 meno symptoms list. I must admit that this is the least of my symptoms, though.
You are so right about the never ending list of symptoms. I could post on just about every thread on this site and say "count me in". I firmly believe that there are wayyyyyy more than the listed 35. It is all so frustrating.
Hopefully this too shall pass.
Hugs,
Susan

LOL Susan!! I had to reread that line 5 times before I realized that it didn't say "You are so right about the
nerve endings list of symptoms."
I was going to agree & say, "Me, me! I have nerve ending symptoms!"
