Anyone out there experience feelings of stiffness and numbness in one or both of their feet? For over a month now my right foot feels stiff and clumsy, around the arch area. My large toe feels numb and tingly as well. Sometimes I stamp on it to try and make it "act normal" ! It is worse when I walk alot.

HI

I get this is my arms/hands mostly since being peri - this kind of feeling can be part of peri - parasthesia

Have you checked out with a physio - Dr? I guess it is unlikely to be trapped nerve cos it would be odd to affect both feet?

I massage my feet every day before I go to sleep (did I say sleep - I meant before I put my head on pillow and pretend to go to sleep!!!) - I find it very relaxing - I have a bit of - I dont know - gout I guess - in my left big toe - and I find the massage really helps that - it has been a lot less painful since I started. I use lavender oil.....smells good too!!!

I have noticed since I started walking more - I get pains in both knees - shooting pains often - I have started using walking poles which seem to help as they take some of the weight off and also exercise my upper body as well while I am walking!!

My feet get like that suzyq2...actually right now it is my right foot feeling that way.I "think" for me it is the shoes i wear.If i try to wear a different pair of shoes it makes my arch ache and the top of my foot feels stiff and all crackly when i move it.I have one pair of shoes that i try to wear 99% of the time, they are 1/2 size bigger than i normally wear so that my toes have plenty of room to move around. They also have a flat sole on the bottom and that helps the arch pain.

Mele,

Thank you for your replies. I'm going to start keeping a "grateful journal" too. Wonderful idea ! Sorry to hear that you are sleeping so poorly. Did that contribute to you losing your job? I'm not sleeping well either, but it's mainly due to nasal congestion and taking meds for that. They tend to make me hyper. Peri has caused more sinus problems that I used to have ... seems like it wrecks havoc on every body system.

I'll try the foot massage. Take a nap ! Take care of yourself too.

I have been having wierd foot stuff going on the past couple of months. I walk on a treadmill for 45 minutes/day. A couple of months ago I was getting these sensations of the muscle on the bottom of my foot "pulling" as I walked. Now I feel some soreness on my forefoot to the point where I've had to switch from the treadmill to biking so that I am not pounding on my feet at all. Sometimes when I'm lying in bed my feet and even my ankles start to feel achy. I think peri is making its way to every single muscle in my body and it is driving me crazy and making me so anxious again. When will this ever end?

I also have a weird right foot thing going on.
For quite some time now, the right side of my right foot has had the numb thing going on. Also, if I move the foot too far to the left, it gets this strange pins and needles feeling in it? I've noticed too, that my thumb on my right hand has a tingly, numb feeling on the right side of it also.
Strange!!
But nice to know I'm not the only one.

I've never mentioned it to my Doc, so who knows?

I have been experiencing numbness and tingling in my right foot and tingling in my right hand since coming off HRT six months ago. My husband (a doctor) has just diagnosed Tarsal tunnel syndrome. Carpal tunnel syndrome (the same type of condition but affecting the hand) is found in some women in pregnancy when the hormone balance shifts and can also be a feature of menopause. I am due to be examined by an Orthopaedic surgeon soon.
