Hi,,,ok, I'm totally new here, but I thank God I found this site, and have recommended it to all my friends!!!

first, let me begin by saying I'm worried!..lol...well, that's also because I've never experienced anything like this before....I'm 48 yrs. old, and have been married for 26yrs., I have three sons. A number of years ago my husband and I started having real problems between us, and have recently seperated. I then met a very kind gentle man, who I became good friends with, who I eventually slept with, first time was about 8 mos. ago. He lives in another city really, and visits me when he can, and then we'll be together for a few days. So during his visits, we do make love a lot, we do love one another. During his first visit here, we slept together about 5 times in 4 days, and I had ABSOLUTLEY NO PROBLEM after that.....the SECOND visit was 3 mos. later, and we slept together about the same amount.....his last visit, was recently, the end of May, for 4 days again, and again, we made lvoe about 5 times. BUT THIS TIME , when he went home, within a week, I started really itiching and burning down in the vaginal area. There was no foul smell, and no unusual discharge, I have read a lot latley about all the diff. types of STD's and vaginal infections, and they don't seem to fit me to well. So, about a week after he left, I started with the itching and burning...I used pure yogart to ease the itching and burning (which really does help), and showered about 100 times a day! I also noticed however, that my vagina became very DRY! I MEAN DRY! Now, after about 4 days of that, the burning and itching left, and I was left with kind of a "sore" or "tender" vagina,,,weird. (especially the area where I had had a botched episiotomy 20 yrs. ago with the birth of my second son) THEN I BEGAN TO FEEL " SICK" meaning that I felt exhausted, "weird" in the head, detached, fever on and off (slight fever), queasy, and this is the worst...when I woke up two mornings, I WAS BURNING UP! NOT A TRUE FEVER THOUGH, no, this was just inside ME! Like some sort of hot flash or something, which lasted about an hour! I asked everyone in my household to "feel my head" to see if there was a fever, and I took my temp., and NOPE, NO FEVER,....so, it was just me! I had to stand in front of the ac unit for a while to cool down! That happened two straight mornings in a row, not any other time of the day though. So, I am now, feeling kinda "sick", not HORRIBLY SICK, but sick. I've had sme friends tell me "he must have given something to you" but I really don't think so....he's INSANLEY CLEAN!..lol...and he himself is also seperated recently from his wife of 20 yrs. himself, and has been manogomous all this time...he himself is in great health! Keep in mind this didn't happen the other two visits he was here for....I know, I apologize for this very long post....please forgive me, but I jsut wanted to make sure I wrote it all down! I am assuming that the on and off "fever" is a sign of an infection? or what?....oh, I shoud mention here that I did have burning upon urination (for about 2-3 days) and felt lke I had to urinate all the time (which I know is a UTI....I had a UTI once befroe about 5 yrs. ago) ..... I don't have those symptoms now anymore. So, what I've got now is just the "sore" vagina, DRY VAGINA,and an on an off fever....with a "sick" feeling........if anyone out there can help me, I would sure appreicate it! I have never had this before, and I'm hoping all this is, is maybe a symptome of menopause or somethig. ALSO, I STILL DO GET MY PERIOD REGULARLY....I'm just scared this is some sort of crazy disease or something! HELP!!!!!

Hi, Darling, and welcome to this magnificent site.

First of all, this surely sounds like a urinary tract infection, which can certainly occur after intense lovemaking. (I know this because it happened to me many years ago and a doctor explained it as "Honeymoon - citis" or something like that!! The very, very best advice I can give you is to see your doctor right away. This could be a combination of many things, including vaginal irritation and dryness that accompanies these hormonal swings we all experience! Whether or not you have an STD can be determined with a quick exam by your doctor and it will set your mind at ease.

There are so many things taking place at this time in our lives that it is almost impossible to determine what is just a result of what is going on with our ever-changing bodies and what might be indeed an infection.

thank you so much Belinda! that made me feel better! I have made an appt. with my gyn. for next week, geez, he can't see me till then! well, that's all I can do at this point...I am drinking cranberry juice like it's going out of style!..lol...and just resting. I feel so weird and "sick" today, and again that terribly HOT feeling!!! I mean, I feel as though I'm going to burst into flames here!!!..lol...and I ask the other member s of the household here, and they think I feel "normal".....this is insane! Would you happen toknow what that intense inner heat is? I suspect it must be fighting an infection or something, and yet, it only seems to cross over into an actual real "fever" every once in a while , and even then, it's a very low fever. So, apparently I'm fighting off somehting. After I got done fending off my well meaning "friends"that he must have given me something...I came to my own conclusion that it's probably a UTI..like you said, I don't think he gave me anything.....he is a very sweet, caring, kind man who is INSANLE CLEAN!...LOL...he reminds me of Felix Unger on the Odd Couple! He is very neat, and washes his hands about 1,000 times a day...lol...and has only been with his wife all those years...so, I don't think it's an STD.....PLUS,,,,,as of today (and yesterday really).....the burning and stinging upon urination is GONE...so is the DRY VAGINA....and the DRY MOUTH, ..... so really all that's left at this point is the SICK feeling I have....and that INSANE HOTTNESS!!!!!! I do think that's the worst! when I called the gyn, his nurse said to me that it sounded hormonal,,,,,,I hope so!

MyDarling, first welcome to PS hope you find alot of useful info. I was wondering though if you think you might have an infection you would think that they would at least have you go in and give a urine sample to make sure you dont have an infection and at that time the doc. can prescribe something to you, What I get is hormonal but there was a time when I was younger that I would get infections and would need an antibiotic which in turn would give me a yeast infection and I would go round and round until I found my own solution.

So my concern is you say you feel sick, for peace of mind wouldnt you like to have urine checked that way you would know its just either maybe that Honeymoon Cyst. or just hormonal?

Another thing if you get real dry is Vit. E ointment, or cut a capsule and its soothing. Do you have a good flow? Just a few caring questions. Please take care, Tinkybug

thank you so much for your response! Well, it is now 1:31pm EST, and i feel "sickly" again...now, today I felt sickly, and HOT, I mean like I'm going to burst into flames...LOL...this is awful! Then, for a while this evening, I felt fine again, what the heck?????? I did have a little fever on and off during the day, but minimal, I don't have the burning upon urination anymore, or the dry vagina, or dry mouth, or that awful feeling lke you have to pee every five seconds. What I'm left with here, is, that INCREDIBLY HOT FEELING all the time.....and a "sickly" feeling. At least those other symptoms have gone away, so that's got to be something good,,,right?!!!! I mean, that must show SOME improvement, it must be on it's way out I suppose. BUT WHAT THE HECK IS THAT HOT HOT HOT FEELING all the time?? I've never in my life had this! This isn't obviously a hot flash, because, it's ther all the time! So chronologically speaking, the vaginal burning and itching started first....but, after a few days that departed, and then I had this horribly dry vagina! OK, that lasted a few days, and now, as of today, that's gone too! YEAH!!!!! I had the burning upon urination for a few days (during the same time as the burning and itching, but the burning when peeing was only ther for about 2 days, the other burning, around the vagina lasted longer, but it's gone now).....I also woke up this morning, SO DARN HOT again! HOLY COW! You think yhou're burning up! But, like the other mornings....NO FEVER! (and if any fever at all, very minimal) ... now, WHAT IS THIS ALL? ANY THOUGHTS ...I do appreciate all the info. I've gotten here, thank you so very much....I too think it must be a UTI....but WHAT'S WITH THE HOT FEELING all the time? That's totally new! Is that hormonal? I was thinkng it was, not due to the UTI, but due to whatever was happening in the vaginal area .. the burning and itching.......does that make any sense? It goes up and down....for a while during the day, I'll feel good, then POW, I start to feel sick again.....this is day 6, with a one day break in between when I felt like I could become a cheerleader for Pete Sake!..lol.....I have an appt. for next week, that's the soonest she could give it to me.....great. geez! What I guess concerns me is the fact that even though this fever is minimal, and only comes and goes......is that something serious? I wouldn't think so, right? My darling, please take your temperature. If you are running a fever of 100degrees or more you need to get to a doctor. Fevers often come and go, but they are a sign of infection, somewhere. The reason I said take your temp. is feeling hot is not a sign of fever, chills are. You may be dealing with a simple yeast infection or something much more serious. I AM WORRIED ABOUT YOU.....

Hi, thank you for your concern! I have made an appt. for next week. . OK, yes, I would assume having a temp. means an infection or virus, but I don't ever get chills! The only time I"ve gotten "chills" at all, through all of this is when I've been so darn hot (that burning up feeling) and had to stand in front of the ac unit until I cooled off, and THEN I'd get a little chill, and have to lay down and cover up for a short while, but that was only once, a few days ago. Thats about it. Usually, this INSANE INNER HEAT is just there, it gets worse and better. I do feel as though I'm in a dream though, not really "here", detached. Today, I feel so detached, and weak, but I don't seem to have signs of the UTI to much anymore, just a very sick feeling, and that HEAT! Now, you're scaring me here.....why are you worried?

So sorry I scared you. If you had a fever for over 3 days you need to see a Dr now because you could now have a kidney infection, from the untreated bladder infection. They typically make you have a fever, backache, and feel terrible. But what you describe just sounds like "your own private summer", hot flashes. Taking your temperature would let you KNOW if its a fever or not. You could have had an early bladder infection, and flushed it out. And sometimes vaginal infections clear on their own, (they really don't have anything to do with cleanliness), just an overgrowth of yeast. I hope you are feeling well soon. Blessings
