I was in my mid 30s when it hit me. I almost felt pregnant when I first felt "different". The smell of food made me sick, and I couldn't eat. I went to the doc, knowing I wasn't pregnant, and he (I'd find a female, if at all possible) thought it was depression. I had an upper and lower GI, which showed nothing. I went through a bunch of tests, which all showed nothing. Finally, I had my period for 15 days straight, went to the OB/GYN and she said I was in peri. I found this site to be very helpful. I didn't feel so alone.

Good luck!

You are not alone, i'm 35 soon to be 36. It hit me in Nov. like a ton of bricks. I had bad Anxiety & Depression with insomina. I never had any of this crap until this peri. I didn't know what in the world was happening to me. When it first hit me I was out of work of almost 2wks and lost weight due to the anxiety. This are getting a little better but I still don't feel 100% normal. Yes of course my doctor dosent' want to it admit it's peri as most doctors. As of right now I take xanax as needed, off course the doctors think we are all NUTS. blink.gif

I am 39 and I think I can safely say this started around 35 or maybe earlier. I had a gradual worsening of symptoms, with new ones arriving regularly until about a yr. ago it came to a head for me...I became almost unfuctional, I felt bad almost daily then I started having the classic signs of hormonal upheavel hotflashes and nightsweats and figured that is what it must be. After being to the Dr. for several different tests this was her conclusion also. HUGS Mikki
