Hi all, I live in the Netherlands and feel so lonely. I really miss my GP and Gynae from South Africa.
I had a second c/s in 2004 and 3 weeks later nearly died from a streptococcus A infection in my abdomen. seriously, a few hours later and they reckon I would have kicked the bucket.
anyway, now i am in daily pain, and am so fed up with it all. Will I ever experience a pain free day again? will my energy ever return?
I have stopped the depo-provera.
I swollow vesicare now fro the incontinence and paracetamol for the pain.
my periods were irregular, long, heavy. who knows what they will be now!
my joints ache
i sleep badly
I have night sweats
sometimes hot flashes
my memory is pathetic
sex hurts like hell

they removed the right ovary and fallopian tube but left the rest in. dierctly after surgery I showed signs of full blown menopause but somehow the ovary recovered but is now deteriorating.

Hey DDT - a big hug for you smile.gif

Welome to PS - I live in the UK - so we are not so far away!!! biggrin.gif I hope your weather is better than we have been having here! You must be very strong to have got through that infection - and you will get through this - it was not your time to go was it! dry.gif

Menopause is a very tough time physically and emotionally for many women......I do hope we can help support you so you wont feel so lonely - as you start to explore the site and get to know people it feels like a big family (OK we are slightly disfunctional family at times - and the brain fog means we forget stuff but hey???) laugh.gif

I am sorry you are in pain 2 years post op - it must be so incredibly debilitating. Paracetemol is not that strong a pain killer - have they offered you anything else? I was given Tramadol for abdo pain a few months ago - I have abdo/stomach spasm (peri) - and it does take the pain away. If you had decent pain killers you could relax a bit - relieve some tension and move more freely and exercise - it would help alot. As you start to unwind the pain may lessen at least that is what I find?

You are not alone with may of your symptoms which are typical of peri - insomnia is the pits isnt it (I am up at night too - and will think of you tonight in the wee small hours!). You sound like you have foggy brain too which many of us have - scary at first but we laugh at ourselves a lot about it! laugh.gif Sex hurts eh? What is sex??? huh.gif And dont talk to me about joint pain - I though I had developed acute rheumatoid arthritis overnight - now it comes and goes and I ignore my various silly joints as another peri irritation! I am glad to say I dont have hot flashes and sweats but can add bloating, indigestion and palpitations to my list so peri is not letting me off that easily!!! Ho hum!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

Reading my post I am sorry it is such a pathetic attempt to offer support - such a few lines when you are going through so much but I just wanted to say I share some of your pain, I know some of what you are going through, I want to send you a big virtual hug and smile and say - this does pass.

Please hang in - please keep posting on this board - and do tell us what are your Drs doing to help you???

Are you getting out and about - eating OK - managing to exercise a bit?

Keep in touch - love and big hugs

Mele - so foggy brained today I am surpised I wrote so much - hope it makes some sense???? laugh.gif

Hello Mele~

Your post isn't a pathetic attempt to offer support--its a very good post wink.gif You sound a little like me in that I dont have much confidence in my abilities although I used to be a very confident person. Peri seems to have sapped so much from me. Anyway...I think your post makes perfect sense...strangely enough, I just wrote a post on another thread about my cognitive abilities and my posts not making sense or not being clear. Hey Mele~ I also live in the UK! biggrin.gif Not many of us around you know..

okay- DDT (((BIG HUGZ)) from me too! So sorry youre having so much to deal with but unfortunately it goes hand in hand with Peri...but you will get so much support here and that will really help you. Are you taking anything to ease the symptoms? You can find out more by going to the reccomendations page~~ go to the right hand corner of the main index page and there is a drop down box..just scroll down.

My husband is Dutch and was born in Hilversum..where in the Netherlands are you?

Welcome to PS and I hope you're feeling a little better~
