Have already posted in another section under Blood Pressure but thought someone here might be able to help me too: I hope someone out there can help me! I have just had a hysterectomy but I still have my ovaries. I take my BP every other day and it is usually around 120/80 give or take 5 from either number! Here's the thing: Even before my hyster, every 3 weeks or so I would have an episode of High Blood Pressure around 180/100 and sometimes a little higher! It only usually lasts 24 - 36 hours but it doesn't stay up there all this time, it mainly fluctuates throughout the day. Problem: It normally throws me into a Panic Attack and I tend to lose it, (if you know what I mean) not to mention it exhausts me. Here's the thing do you think when my ovaries are doing whatever (producing too much or too little estrogen that this could effect my BP? Please, please, please could someone relate? I do not take any medication for HBP or anything else. I'm still only 4 weeks Post Op from my hysterectomy. Look forward to your replies.
Thank you CC

HI Copincapers
I used to take my BP regularly - now I do it every few months
BP fluctuates all day anyway - I believe it is at its highest in early morning before we wake. Anxiety and panic and tension raise BP
My BP was certainly higher last year when I was a panic stricken zombie for months - now it has setlled as has my heart rate - I was HR 80+ and BP 140/85 - now I am HR 56 BP 117/65 - OK not extreme - but a big change in a year. I was a vtal signs checker for months - pulse, BP, weight - you name it - if I could check it I would - result blind panic and worry.
I am eating better, exercising (most important), no caffeine/sugar etc, no salt, relaxation and yoga - I think the exercise has helped most - it has relieved much of the stress - I love walking now (except my knee has gone nuts in last few eeks with shooting pains which is hampering my efforts somewhat!!!)
Doing my BP at home panicked me if it was higher than I thought it shoud be - I reckoned it was raised in expectation of doing the test!
Perthaps try NOT doing your BP for a while. Have a break?
I am under dietation at the mo cos I lost tons of weight last year with stress - my consultant said to me - 'I dont want you to get on the scales till I weight you next time I see you' - this was hard at first - I got on the scales and was disheartened I had not put on weight - panic - now I dont weigh myself - no panic about it????
