I am still learning about all this and am just wondering if any know which hormone is lacking if periods are becoming lighter and very short. I feel absolutely horrible this mo. and my period has started and is barely there( ok I'm sure I'm exagerating, but comparitive to the past few the difference is pretty dramatic) I was bleeding very heavy for about 1 1/2 yr's with mostly clotting and the last couple of mo. they have become shorter and lighter and I have noticed an increase in symptoms that have been somewhat under control for a good while. I hate this just when I think I have the right combo of creams, foods and such I need to re-evaluate and find a new combination. Thanks ladies for your help hugs mikki

Hi Mikki

If you are peri as you know both hormones are fluctuating - possibly wildly

I guess - If oestrogen low - you may not be building up uterine lining - so little to shed - increase in symptoms is likely low oestrogen/low progesterone (if not having period) - ?? There is lots on this in the article on board - I am no expert

I have given up wondering what hormone is doing which - I am plugging on with healthy diet/exercise - taking advice on the odd tweak to vits and supplements - it is disheartening when you feel you have everything in hand and then body goes haywire again - thats peri for you - at the end of the day - we cant get this under control (unless we use artifical means - and often not even then it sems to me) as with all things in life - it is unpredictable

I hope you can tweak and find a balance for yoou - we are all unique

I'm not sure about this, but I think progesterone is the hormone that regulates bleeding. The fluxuation of progesterone and/or estrogen can cause our symptoms, as our body wants things to be regular and stable, while peri has our hormones going up and down and then down even more!
