I kept feeling these "bumps" on my inner thigh high up when I showered. I thought they were just some pimple things from the heat we have been having lately. It's been hot here for a month. They were not clearing up so to get a look at them, I used a mirror. Saw nothing really. They feel bigger than they are. Had hubby look and he says "oh, those look like skin tags". huh.gif They are skin colored and move around. They feel totally different and huge but they are tiny he says. There are quite a few.

Other than having them removed by a derm...I guess I have to live with them. I have been married 26 years and been tested many times (each new gyno wants their own tests) and am diseaes free...no HPV or herpes so I am going to assume that it's a peri thing due to friction (extra pounds) and sweat. My mom got them around her neck as she went through peri.

I don't like this on bit! mad.gif

It's not just peri... the older you get all these things come out of seemingly nowhere. One day my skin looks great and then all of a sudden it looks like my MOTHER'S!!! All old and creepy looking. It doesn't matter how much lotion I put on it, it remains the same. What are ya gonna do?? Skin tags--- just another joy of aging! I don't remember my Mother telling me this would happen. Good luck- Rohnda

dry.gif Truely, I think our moms have a mad sense of humor. They don't tell us about these things up front and inside they smile when we say "did this happen to you?". Kinda like the statement "just wait until you have kids". It's almost a passive revenge! laugh.gif

Toobusy, I have those also!!!!!!!! I never thought to post about those bumps on my left inner thigh because I thought it was caused by friction,LOL biggrin.gif , and they were just another reason as to why I need to lose these 50+ perimenopausal pounds. Hmmmmmmmmm......skin tags, huh...I continue to learn more and more about these hormonal changes as the years go by smile.gif.

tongue.gif ...I was thinking that if I ever get this extra weight off, I will have melting inner thighs (like candle wax) as my skin is already losing it's elasticity. SO...I'll have them remove the skin in that area then pull my skin up so that the skin from the sides of my knees will replace it! No more skin tags!!! biggrin.gif

I know...it's just a though! laugh.gif

I am developing skin tags too, they're a pain! I had one on my shoulder that was in the way of my bra strap, I kept hitting the thing so my doctor froze it off with some liquid nitrogen. I have some small ones still on my neck and shoulder.

If it's not one thing then it's another, sigh.

I am a new member and I too have those awful skin tags. Mine started showing up about 1 year ago and they are concentrated around my inner thighs near my vulva. Very annoying! I had one large one removed as the elastic from my underwear was rubbing it painfully.
I am also suffereing from this itchy skin! Good Grief....I thought I was loosing my mind and had no idea it could be related to menopause. I am so glad I found this site!

Hmmmm never thought these where due to peri or aging sad.gif
I had the first two removed, one behind my ear and the other one on my thigh... Now I have many more on my neck! No way can I have that many removed, plus they are smaller in size then the first two. Maybe in protested they multiply after the first two where removed?
What other fun stuff shall we look forward to? mad.gif

Yep, skin tags are very common and all part and parcel of ageing. The good news is, if you leave them alone they go of their own accord. I have had them both on my neck and inner thigh, and they eventually disappeared - dropped off, were knocked off, or just shrunk, I dunno but they went.

The more you talk to people the more you realise how common they are and it is definitely to do with growing older. It is very rare for anyone under 35 to get skin tags.

There is no need for medical intervention unless they are painful of causing you problems ... i.e. being rubbed against by clothing, bra straps etc.

Unsightly they may be. Another reminder that we are getting older by the minute. But harmless enough.

Skin tags, ick! I have developed a couple very small ones on my face. Well, they are more like tiny bumps that are solid cysts like creatures. One is on my nose and the other under my eye. I went to the dermatologist to have them checked out. I wanted them removed because I hate looking at them. My hubby says I am the only one that can see them. dry.gif The Doc said they weren't anything to worry about and removing them was no guarantee that they won't come back. What? huh.gif I thought once you cut those suckers off, that was it. The doc said that she could freeze them, but the one under my eye would probably hurt to have it done. Ouch! ohmy.gif Well, of course that is considered cosmetic and insurance does not pay for that. So if I want them removed, not only will have to pay for the removal of those ugly little skin bumps, I will have to pay for the huge office visit fee as well. Soooo......I was thinking about whacking them off myself....then again, maybe not. I'm not into pain! cool.gif

I have read that you can remove your own skin tags by tying a sewing thread around them tightly at the base—supposedly they will die and fall off. I used to read a skin care board and I recall women there recommending using Super Copper 2X from Skin Biology to remove the skin tags. I cannot remember if they used an exfoliant like salicylic acid with the Super Copper 2X or not but it would probably be a good idea. The lady in the post I remember said that she applied the Super Copper 2x directly to the skin tag every day (maybe twice a day) and it dried up and fell off. Super Copper 2x is a little expensive but you can get a small 0.25 oz sample of it from the Diana Yvonne web site for $5.00 plus shipping. (I use Super CP Serum by Skin Biology on my face once a day to help prevent wrinkles, Super Cop 2X is too strong for my face plus it contains ingredients that clog pores).

I have tied them up and they indeed die. I have also just cut them off. This is definitely not recommended! It was on my boob and it kind of exploded and left a huge scar. Don't know what that was about! I have also twisted them and they eventually die.

Cool! I'll have to check that out. Thanks Kathy! biggrin.gif

Hi,
Recently there was a little article in my local newspaper on removal of skin tags. There are a few options - here goes:

1) Use New Skin Liquid Bandage - use it twice a day for three days and the skin tags come off - some say it takes a few weeks.

2) Use Compound W Works, wart removal - supposedly just as well as getting rid of skin tags.

3) What Kathy says about using thread - tying and knotting the skin tag real close. Says it would shut down the blood supply to the tag and it would fall off very quickly - usually within 3 days.

Hope this helps.

I had a skin tag get irritated on my neck from a sweater so I just put a regular bandaid on it and left it on overnight.. I took the bandaid off the next day and it looked like it was getting scabby looking.. I put another bandaid on it and left it on for a couple days and took it off and the skin tag was on the bandaid.. no mark on skin or anything.. I have several on my neck.. I may do that with them one by one..

I get these nasty little things all the time. I may be getting more now because I'm aging, but I've actually had them most of my life. I had one burned off my inner thigh by a dermatologist when I was a teenager. My grandmother says she ties a thread around the larger ones to cut off the blood supply. She says they eventually dry up and fall off. My mom just cuts them with scissors. Says it feels like being stuck with a straight pin -- no big deal. I'm a big chicken though so I still have mine.

I once had a very uncomfortable skin tag between my buns.....it was quite embarassing to have the doc remove it...but without removing that I couldn't sit down! rolleyes.gif
