I think so. I started having it at the begining of the perimenopause, now it's gone. But I would suggest to check your thyroid as well, it can be also a sign of hypoT.

i think i will ask my gyny to do a complete blood count just to have peace of mind. i just went and checked my blood pressure and it read 135 ovre 89... that's bad isn't it?

i get very cold with extremely cold hands, especially after a mealand every evening. Then a couple of hours later my face will get very hot but i still like i have a chill. i have been like this for about 8 months now, ever since starting perimenopause. I have more problems with feeling cold than with hot flushes!!!!

I froze all winter long and have cold hands. My thyroid was fine and I didn't test positive for anemia. But my ferritin levels were 24 (considered possibly iron deficient) so I've been taking a liquid iron supplement for 6 weeks. I'm not as cold all the time (of course it's spring now) and my hair isn't falling out as much ( I didn't even notice this as a problem until I noticed I WASN'T losing as much. As for your blood pressure, 135/89 is slightly high but not really out of whack. I would check at different times of day over a period of 2 weeks before you really start freaking out. Mine can be 138/83 one day and 120/70 the next.

Thank you very much for the reply. It's funny you should mention hair loss. Mine comes out all the time that my husband comments about it. Is that a symptom of a thyroid? or peri? or both? smile.gif

I think it can be the result of a number of things, including iron deficiency, peri and thyroid...

Wow! I had no idea this was happening to other people! I can sit at work where every one else is comfortable, and my hands, and sometimes, my feet, feel like chunks of ice. We have had some warm spring days, the office has been comfortable, and I have my heater on under the desk, trying to thaw out. I have never had a hot flush, so I never even thought this could be connected with perimenopause.
