Before a period, I usually get the odd spot on my face and then it quickly disappears after the period is over. My period arrived a week early this time and since then I've got this spot just under my ear. Should this be happening now and why is it so big this time? Please advise me. I feel so disheartened that I'm dealing with more symptoms again when I thought I was getting better.

I dont think Ive ever had acne..this is just like a swollen inflamed lump...that feels like its a spot? Does that make sense? Its painful to touch. dry.gif

That is sometimes how pimples feel when they start. Sometimes they just hurt, other times they itch but I can always tell when one is coming! Always just before my period,I don't get them at any other time of the month.

I use Johnson's Clean and Clear Persa-Gel. The stuff works great! Usually just have to put it on once or twice and the pimple is gone.

Maybe someone else has another idea if this isn't what you think you're getting.

I also get little raised bumps that really hurt just below the skin's surface. The still come once a month even though I haven't had a period for about 4 months. I used to get them faithfully the very last day of my period. I've tried the Persa-Gel, it's very good.

Well, I occasionally get a painful pre-pimple spot, too.

But my problem lately is DRY SKIN. I feel like I've turned into a molting reptile. My skin is so dried out and flaky. I use the heavy duty Keri Lotion and it used to work like magic. Now, within a few hours I'm flaking. Is peri/meno the culprit -- or turning 50?

Does anyone use anything that works? Any suggestions or solutions?

Thanks!
Wendie

Wendie, I've always suffered from dry skin on my face, especially during the winter months and it has been even worse since peri and I am in my 50's too. I have tried many different creams and moisturizers, including the various Keri Lotions but the best so far is Olay Sensitive Moisture Therapy Creme. It is a little more expensive but it does work. It isn't greasy or pore clogging and my face has never been this soft with the other creams that I've tried.

Thanks Mrs B and Wendie. I just wanted some input with this just to make sure nothing else is going on. My anxiety seems to be low grade...like I worry what other symptom will appear. Usually I get these just before a period but becasue my period was a week early, it seems to have thrown my body out. I'm also suferring with fatigue and depression. This whole thing is wearing me down and it shows in my face. I look tired and my face is lined just lately.

I am expecting my order of Revival to arrive any day. I really hope it works.

Take care~

Typing and spelling is way off today! ...Just wanted to tell you what I do when my skin is dry. I add some Johnsons baby oil to the bath just before I get out and let it soak in for a few minutes. This seems to help too.

Gez, I got this too for the first time last month. It is on my neck just behind my ear. It was very tender to touch and bigger than a regular pimple and appeared overnight. My 6 year old son said whoa! when he saw it. Thanks, sweetie!

It is still there, but is smaller and not painful at all now (it never came to a "head" either). My hunch is this is cystic acne. In his teens, my husband suffered from this and had them on his jawline and neck. I wonder if it is caused by hormonal imbalance, possibly testosterone not being offset by enough estrogen?

I am going to mention it at my next dr's appt, but I'm not too worried about it.

Good luck with the Revival and I hope you feel better!

oh yes, pimples!! one of the reasons i call menopause 'reverse puberty' ! i was without pimples for so long, and now they are back.. or were.. or will be when and if i have another period! i never know... smile.gif but if i get a pimple, i know there's a fine chance of a period..

Thanks, Arla & Gez for the dry skin suggestions. I will try them out.
