mad.gif This is at least the third if not fourth week my breasts are so sore they could break! They feel like a period is about to start but nothing (no periods since November)!

Has anyone had luck with diuretics to reduce the swelling?

Pat, at the end of my rather longlasting and drawn-out periods, my boobs would start to hurt and I would get a period, and then they never subsided until I got another period, which was somewhat later, but I don't recall when. I found this quite painful and very annoying. I'm positive you're going to get a period, but it may take a little while.

My periods have really started getting erratic over the past year. Have one, skip a month. Have two in one month, have a normal one, skip two months. And my boobs have been SO sore, that just brushing a light-weight shirt against them causes extreme pain! Sometimes it goes on all month, sometimes it subsides. Usually they will start to feel better when I bleed, and then BAM! When the period is over, the pain starts all over again. At this very moment I think BOTH of my boobs have migraines.
Ain't this crap fun, ladies? NOT! mad.gif

Pat,

I had the same thing going on as Meryl did - where in the past there was relief when a period started, suddenly my breasts would just remain sore and ROCK-HARD into the next cycle, which didn't feel fair at all!!! mad.gif

The GOOD news is that once your cycles really start to lengthen out, the breast pain disappears!! I'm lovin' it! happy.gif

Hang in there,

Hi, I too had the same problem and only just recently too. It was scary and depressing. I eliminated caffeine, with the exception of green tea occassionally and I take Evening Primrose Oil, and Flaxseed Oil which I hope you consider doing - it helps but took a good month before I experienced the full effect. Alcohol apparently can wreak havoc on the breast soreness as well - but hey I am no saint laugh.gif I will occassionally have a drink... Consider doing these things...oh AND soy helps too - I forgot...it really helps actually. I make smoothies with soft tofu...strawberries, bananas, and whatever else you fancy. Makes a big difference.

Sincerely,
Suzanne

Thanks for the input.

Lengthen my periods out---its been since November! dry.gif

I take Evening Primrose oil, black cohosh, Inositol, red clover, B-complex and several others. Soy causes too much gas.

I called my Gyn about a diuretic if it even helps?

To think women are getting implants to look like this!!!!!!!! ohmy.gif

Hi Pat01,

What works for me is taking Vitamin E at night before I go to bed. It actually doesn't matter when you take it for help with the breast soreness, but I take it at night to aid my sleep. I ran out of Vitamin E, and the next month, they were so sore again. Started taking it, and no pain the next month. By the way, until peri, I had never experienced breast soreness.

Pat,

My breasts have been sore for weeks now - haven't had a period since April 14th. I used to get sore breasts before my period then it would subside once it started. I'm on the Vivelle Dot Patch as well at 100 mg of Prometrium nightly. Don't know if I'm going to get a period or not - maybe I'll get another one some day and by boobs will not hurt anymore - LOL.

Take care.

I have heard that putting vitamin E oil directly on the breasts rather than taking the capsules works for breast soreness....have you tried that before?and if so,does it help?

Thanks for the suggestions. I had a period 6 months from my last (why oh why now) and it was longer than 3 weeks of breast soreness before the period started.
Now I am flashing again, only my face though and that weird feeling mid-sternum which I hate. Just another phase I guess, oh and the recurrent Strep A. vaginal infections haven't quit. Another trip to the Gyn and more antibiotics. Now she suggests a vinegar and water douche once a month and taking acidophillus might help.

I can totally relate! My boobs hurt all the time, although moreso the week before and during my period. But since my periods are coming fast and furious right now -- 24-day cycles or thereabouts (for over a year now...aren't they supposed to be getting LESS frequent?) -- that pretty much means I'm constantly in pain. Right before my period it's so bad I can't sleep on my stomach or allow my man to hug me -- and he gives such good hug! It's hard for me to do breast exams because of the discomfort, which is bad because my breasts feel like bags of marbles, with all the fibrous lumps and cysts. Have had the mammograms and ultrasounds and nothing scary has shown up, so apparently the lumps are just there for their entertainment value. I've tried the cohosh and evening primrose, but my anxiety levels keep scaring me into thinking those herbs are going to poison me somehow, but that's another story. If I come up with a solution to the pain, I'll pass it on!

Isn't this fun dry.gif I have noticed this week that my breasts are very sore too. Had a period on the 1st of July with a terrible pre-migraine. A while back I found lumps in both breasts which turned out to be a fybrocystic condition which was very painful. I took dandelion tincture from the health food store which acted as a diuretic and upped my water intake as that too flushes you out. It did help with the pain a lot. So in my not so expert opinion, diuretics help, I just choose natural ones. Oh yeah, even though caffine is a diuretic, don't use it as it aggravates my breast pain. I really hope this helps.

Hi ladies...its been awhile since I posted, or stopped by. i have been dealing with largely night sweats, disturbed sleep, and bouts of depression.

My recent (and brand new) symptom is EXTREMELY sore nipples. I cannot even touch them without pain with a capital P!

However, that is not all....I have not had a period since April, which is the longest I have gone without one. My next one is due Friday, September 15.

BUT, I have some troubling (in the pregnant sense of the word) symptoms........I have put on 10 pounds since late July and feel like my midsection is definitely bigger. Though the weight gain is all over, the waist of my pants are the tightest....and my boobs are bigger.

The clincher was last night, while seated at my son's back to school night (he is senior and almost 18), I felt what I would swear was fetal movement! Yikes! I talked myself into calm last night, swearing that it had to be something else. However, today I am still feeling the same movements....I am freaking out. I am at work now and think I will run by and get a pregnancy test....omg!

The logical part of me is saying, it cannot be so...you had your tubes tied in 1989 and you are going to be 50 in two months and you are perimenopausal.....but a little voice is whispering to me....stranger things have happened....

I have no clue how pregnant I might be....20 weeks? I mean I have been dealing with peri-menopausal crappola so much that I have no clue if any of it could have been early pregnancy signs....I went through about 3 weeks (in May) of nausea/no appetite/feeling full after 3 bites (in hindsight....coulda been morning sickness...that would have been 6 weeks after my last period). Sigh....

I really hope this is all just part of the perimeno journey.....I am not ready for another round of motherhood....I want to be a grammy instead! smile.gif

Anyone have any thoughts about this or similar symptoms?
MamaMia
Uh Oh! That being said... If you hadn't had your tubes tied, I would be inclined to say maybe you ARE pregnant. It is unlikely, however not unheard of by any means.

Sounds like a pregnancy test is in order, though. Are you sure the "fetal movements" aren't just gas? laugh.gif Good luck and let us know.

Hugs,
Susan

Hi Bethann-just read your post and am having similar symptoms-no period since April before that it was last November, and for the last few weeks have had the sore breasts and sensitive nipples like pregnancy too but I am NOT pregnant since the last time I had sex was July 8th-(husband is on Zoloft and he works midnights-thus no sex drive-I don't even care at this point) took an pregnancy test August 24th just to make sure and it was negative. That was a good six weeks so I figured the test would be positive if I was but it was neg. Since then, the tenderness is unbearable and the tingling and soreness is really irritating. How can menopause and pregnancy feel like the same thing? It is like some cruel joke. Did you find out anything? Please let us know. Linda

I'm DEFINITELY not pregnant (husband had a vasectomy 4 years ago) and I have very sore nipples, so it could be a peri thing you're experiencing, or it could be pregnancy!

One thing that helped me with the severe nipple tenderness was to start buying padded bras. I know, I know, our boobs already feel huge, who needs to make them even bigger, yada yada, BUT... it made it so if I brushed against something I didn't feel like someone had shocked me with a taser. blink.gif

Sorry, honey, I won't take your boobs. I can hardly stand my own. There are days of the month when I just want to cut them off, they weigh so much and are so sore and tender. This is one part of peri that I definitely can't wait to be rid of!

Cheers!

I am 52 and haven't had a period for a year and am having lots of power surges and night sweats, so I guess I'm in full menopause. Question is that I have ONE boob that feels heavy, achy and swollen, but the other is 90% feeling normal (just a little achy sometimes). Has anyone had this on only the one side? I had a mammogram 8 months ago and it was OK. I had lots of breast tenderness during peri, but on both sides, not just this one. Can't feel any lumps, it just weighs a ton and feels sort of like it's "sloshing around." Also I have implants. Appreciate anyone's thoughts...

Thanks.
Libby
