Full Version: Could this weird symptom be peri-related?

Just when I think I'm getting control of my peri symptoms, some new, bizzare thing comes up and now it is soreness in my armpit. blink.gif

It started last weekend, drying my armpit after a shower I noticed a soft lump in my armpit. It hurt like heck! After 2 days, the lump went away but it remains irritated feeling, and sore like I pulled a muscle or something.

I had been sawing tree limbs, so maybe I did pull a muscle, but after a week I think that would be resolved.

It doesn't hurt when I'm working, like raking and gardening this weekend, but when I am just sitting still, it feels sore and achey. It may be still very slightly swollen - I've spent hours looking in the mirror comparing it to my other armpit...

I am only a day before my period now (if it arrives on time!), and I will get it checked out if it doesn't go away, but I'm wondering if any of you ladies have had a similar symptom.

Thanks!

I've had armpit swelling, usually due to a swollen muscle, but on occasion due to a blocked sweat gland or swollen lymph node. Definitely something to get checked out if it doesn't resolve.

I had something similar before and during pregnancy - not really *in* the armpit, but at the front edge of it. My doctor said it was just breast tissue, and prone to the same hormonal changes our breasts go through. I hadn't noticed it for several years, but it recently became sore again when I started my bioidentical hormones.

I'd ask a professional, just to be sure. Can't be too careful.

Good luck!

I and my girlfriends commonly get the armpit lumps. They are very painful, but usually go away in about a week. They are either clogged pores or sollen sweat glands. I was told they were caused by shaving. I wouldn't worry about it unless it doesn't go away. I've had them for years and my girlfriends are in their early thirties, so I don't think they are peri related.

My personal opinion on this is ANY strange and unusual changes in your body, i.e. lumps, bumps, mole changes, etc. should never go without being checked. 9 times out of 10 it turns out to be nothing. But the way I look at it is it's better to be safe than sorry. Aches and pains I ignore the majority of the time. Lumps, I don't ignore.
Just my two cents worth.
Hugs!

I've had these a few times and boy are they sore. I think it's deodrant that causes it, especially those 24 hour ones. If it lasts two weeks I'd have it looked at. It could get infected, so the nurse may be able to help.

Yes they are extremely painful and I think they might be deodorant related too. Anyway they do usually resolve in a week or so, but definitely have it checked out if it doesn't resolve in about 2 weeks.

Thank you all for your kind concern and responses! That's why I treasure my women friends..always there when you need them! biggrin.gif And they can always make you feel better!

You know I did buy new deodorant yesterday, Almay unscented, hypoallergenic, etc. etc. I think it feels slightly better today. The lump is gone, but it feels irritated. Almost like razor burn, but it isn't! But I think it is somewhat improved.

I hope I don't get any new symptoms for a while. This stuff if wearing on me! rolleyes.gif
