Hi Meno sisters,
About 9 years ago I had a partial hysterectomy. The uterus and cervix was removed and I still have my ovaries. The last year - I've had some dry vaginal problems (because of peri. and antihistimine meds)... over the last few months - I get some cramping, like I'm going to get a period and it can last hours. Of course, I can't get periods... Is the cramping feeling due to a dry vagina? Someone told me that the ovaries are shrinking during peri. - and maybe the cramping is due to that... I don't know...

Has anyone else who had a partial or full hysterectomy that is having phantom periods? Thanks for your thoughts...

Blessings,
Stacy

Stacy,
I too had a partial hysterectomy 11 years ago. I now know it probably was the worse thing I could have done because a woman truly does not know when she will go thru menopause after having a partial. This has been nothing but a guessing game for me and in the beginning I was losing but now I'm winning.
Several months ago I too starting having pains after I began taking hormonal replacement therapy and so I called my OB/GYN to make an appt to be sure to rule out any problems with the ovaries and she felt that they were just reacting to depletion. Be sure to get it checked just in case. Any symptom I have now I just rule it to going thru meno and I just sit back and relax while the feelings pass thru. They tell me I will have to wean off my HRT to get tested later to find out exactly where I am in menopause but NO Thank You! I'm one of those women who cannot function without my sublingual tablets from Pete. (anxiety, panic attacks, shaking, fuzzy thinking, insomnia, and numerous other symptoms that last ALL day long) I now am back to the woman I was before ALMOST but sometimes I truly wish I knew when was the last time I ovulated so I can keep better track of this time in my life. Keep me posted on how you're feeling! This is a great website too for us meno women, just wish there were more responses from some who had partials.
God Bless,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for sharing your thoughts...

What I do to keep track of my ovulation is the symptoms. I made up a chart with the symptoms I've noticed over the last years. On my chart is shows the following: Rage/anger, Anxiety, Insomniac, Depression, Forgetful, hateful type day, high emotions, need to cry, high energy, happy, good day.

Everyday, I check it off what I feel - I even put in A.M or P.M. depending on the mood of the day. Sure enough within 2 months it shows a pattern...and I can tell that I ovulated about 10 days before all the mood swings, etc... It also shows when I can go about 5 to 6 weeks without the negative mood swings... Cool huh? biggrin.gif

Maybe that will help you...A chart that works for you and your own symptoms. You'll definetly see a pattern.
