Hi, Need some advice for those who have been there, done that. I am in peri (hot flashes, insomnia major deal) My obgyn gave me script for prometrium 100mg at bed time. Since taking them I have slept well (only on about a week) but I have vague feelings of a uti and burning. OBGYN cultured and no uti, said give it some time. I am just ansty about trading one set of bothersome syptoms for another. Also, he prescribed it continually, not following a cycle. I wonder how my body is to interpet that. Any advice would be considered and appreciated. Thanks! Cathy

Hi Cathy,
Can't offer any advice about the uti/burning sensations (sorry), but can address taking Prometrium continuously rather than cyclically. I've taken it continously for a few years, same dosage as prescribed for you, with no ill effects. Did your doctor also prescribe an estrogen?

No Estrogen, that is what I am wondering about cycle wise. I really don't want to stop taking this because I feel so much better in terms of fatique and sluggishness and no night sweats but it has only been a week. Maybe it's just a placebo response but isn't that kind of the standard "all in your head" conclusion. And it's coming from me!

I had very bad on Prometrium: yeast infection and burning non-stop. Quitting Prometrium stopped the burning and itching.
