Hi everyone! Well after several weeks of tests - it's official - I am perimenopausal. The blood work came back and doc said I was not crazy that the estrogen/progesterone levels were low and indicated I was in peri. Wow - it is a relief to finally get some validation. I am 38 years old so I am grateful that the doc even listened to me. So I guess I can finally feel like I belong on this website AND when I'm having a hotflash I can finally SAY that's what it is and know I'm not nuts. Well - thank all you ladies for being here and I'm sure you will be seeing more of me here cool.gif

Hi Cinmax,

Glad that you got your answers. Did they test your blood at a certain time of the month? I go in May and I'm going to ask for the blood testing for hormones. At least if I know that it is peri my mind will stop wondering about all kinds of wierd diseases. What symptoms have you had? Is it posted somewhere? Let me know.

I have been peri for several years but just last year my labs showed that indeed I was peri... All at once my doctor altitude changed!

Hi Ladies,
I'm with IMNUTS> If we get blood work, is there a certain time of the month to do so? Also, What about saliva testing? I hear they're pretty accurate, even more so than the blood, This is only something I heard not sure though, but I guess if the blood work came back positive that means you are definitely in peri, were as I have heard of blood work coming back negative yet the symptoms were still there. All of this started for me when I was 36, I am now 41. I am Looking forward to your replies.
Thanks Ladies,

My gyn said that I should get the bloodwork done on the 3rd day of my period. I guess that's the best time to check things. They tested my FSH, LH, Estradiol, THS, Prolactin and Progesterone. My FSH was 24 and it said my estradiol was <20. She also said my progesterone was low. I actually got this new gyn this year because my symptoms included skipping a period and running about 50 days between periods with much lighter periods than I'm used to! I also started getting hotflashes and sometimes it feels like I have PMS at the wrong times and some unexpected bouts with anxiety. Anyway - I was relieved to finally get confirmation for what I expected but sometimes I get a little scared about how I will handle all of this.
