As I manuver my way through your site and read post after post of other women going through the symptons I am experiencing it makes me feel like I am not alone and that I am not going crazy {well that part may or may not be true}.
I am a 38 years old who works 8-10 hour work days and usually work 6 days a week. I have a very fast pace stressful job and am always stressed out. Last year in July I started feeling like I was going crazy and my world was crumbling around me... I went off the deep end and quit my job and went into hiding for a month. I hardly got out of bed all i did was sleep and try to deal with all the emotions I was feeling. After a month I started feeling somewhat normal, I called my boss and got my job back and tried to go back to a "normal life". Well a couple of months went by and I was still experience several symptons that I have seen listed on this message board, and then the big one hit I was on my way to work and started having chest pains and the pain up the arm. I panic and went straight to the ER after several hours I was told I didnt have a heart attack but they didnt know what was wrong with me {I see that is a sympton listed here also}. Then the mood swings, night sweats, hot flashes and complete lack of a sex drive hit. Soooooo I think I can safely say I am in some stage of menopause.
Right now I am just trying to deal with it day by day without telling a client to f*ck off and without killing someone and pleading insanity.

I think this message board is going to be a god send for me. Thanks for building such a wonderful site.

Well I see that I am definately not alone, I am just unsure most of the time of what to do with my feelings. I have one of those wonderful jobs that doesnt offer insurance so everything I have tried is off the shelf and believe me some of the stuff made me feel like I was really dying...
I am still experimenting with different stuff and finally got off my butt and joined a gym. The weight gain has hit and hit me hard. But I am not going to go down without a fight.

Y and R-
You're not going crazy-
Sounds loke hormonal imbalance. It hit me when 35 and the anxiety/panic attacks caused such depression I went to a metal rehab facility for a week. Doctors all said I was too young for anything related to menopause so I thought I just had this 'condition' I inherited from relatives. Been on and off Prozac and Xanax ever since. One important thing, all this forced me to develop a relationship with God, and He has proven over and over to me personally that He does exist. It's hard, but I've had to learn to trust in Him to get the help I needed. Now I'm going on 47 and the timing of my symptoms seemed to change plus I'm now getting backache and acne 1-2 weeks before my period along with very tearful days. I've started on the Schwarzbian Principle to improve my diet to help me not only lose weight, which will help my blood pressure, but to help balance my hormones. Supplements and the progesterone cream I hope will help too. It's good to just go out walking 30 min a day 3-4 times a week. This will stimulate endorphins, a feel good hormone and reduce cortisol, the stress hormone. If you've been eating high-carb, fast and processed foods, take in stimulants, alcolhol or smoke, most likely your metabolism is off, you have an insulin imbalance which leads to female hormone and serotonin(a major feel good hormone) imbalances which can cause symptoms like panic.
I may continue to be on Prozac, and use Xanax(for those bad days) all the way thru menpause, I've accepted this, but maybe I won't need as much of this and other medications in the hopefully NEAR future if I take care of my body.
Talk to your gyno about this - he or she(I prefer female) should help you.
Hope this helps.
Just re-read my above post and I meant I went to a MENTAL rehab place, not metal. But it was here that a chaplain directed me towards God and He(God) has helped me ever since. So in a way, this place was a blessing for me.
