Okay, I had my 3 year old tell me today that I had a mustache like a man. That's it....what can I do? I was told it wasn't dark and thick enough to try electrolosys (??). What are my other options.

I am scared to death of waxing...and when it grows back will it be thicker each time...and what if I can't get to the place in time...so many questions.

Then I started with chin hair all of the sudden. I pluck those and it seems them are sprouting up all over. I can't take this. Is this normal for peri? Which hormone (or lack of) causes this. Am I doomed to be A MAN for the rest of my life?

Thanks for any posts!

LtoL,

It must be part of this whole process, so many gals [me included!] complain about this symptom. I actually had chin hairs start long before period issues, etc., in my late 30's... Now [at 48] have the mustache too blink.gif ...

Am no fan of waxing either. Can tolerate it if say, hairdresser does it, but do that to myself? Youch! What I've used is a cream dipilatory [can find them at any pharmacy for small $$$]. You need a little extra time [10 mins. or so] - I do it before a shower so I can rinse off my face carefully. Stuff works but it stinks too, so I wouldn't want to be in a rush & not clean well afterwards. Skin is sensitive afterwards and applying a gentle lotion is soothing.

Hope this helps. Electrolysis just isn't in my budget!

laugh.gif That's funny!! I've had this one hair that grows on my boob for many years. Pluck it out, and two days later it's back.
I thought I was the only one!!

I get my eyebrows waxed when I have my hair appointment each month. The gal uses a couple products to clean off the bits of wax and condition the skin afterwards but the skin gets very pink and I develop little bumps that last for a few days every time it is done. One of the products has alcohol in it and my skin is too sensitive for any kind of alcohol or astringent. I only let her use the stuff to clean off the wax now and I still get the bumps but I can hide them with feathery bangs. I don't want to walk around for days with little bumps above my lips so I am afraid to try waxing that area too. I tried bleaching cream and it is just too messy. I am a brunette but the hairs are too fine to do electrolysis....so I finally resorted to just shaving it off once every couple weeks or so with hubby's electric shaver. That is an old wives' tale about it growing back in thicker, it does seem stiffer when a hair first pokes back out but it softens as it gets a bit longer again. It's cheap, it's easy and I can do it whenever I need. I've been doing it for a couple years now without any problem.

Hi Livetolove ......... Aaaaaah another recruit for the Pluckers club! Otter - get the martinis and olives out laugh.gif

Ive recently started using a facial hair bleach product. I havent got a bushy tash LOL but Ive noticed that the hairs seem to be getting darker ohmy.gif . Dont know if you can buy it over there, but its called Jolen. Its a cream and a powder that you mix together, apply, leave for 5 - 10 minutes and done ! You would have to get very close to notice the hairs coz they are so pale when its done AND lucky for me my beloved is becoming more long-sighted the older HE gets LMHO wink.gif

ps I pluck the little bu**ers that are making a bid for freedom on my chin !!

Ok, I have to get in on this too! I have a mole on my chin that has been growing one or two hairs for the last few years. Now I find myself rubbing it to see if I need to pluck! laugh.gif

A funny story for you all....

I work on a college campus and our building is right next to the sports center where a lot of older people come every day to use the facilities. There is an older (70's) woman who comes to pick up her husband after his workout and she will sit in the parking lot and wait for him. Too cute! Anyway, I was coming back from a walk the other day and saw her sitting there, in the handicap spot, just plucking chin hairs! I just had to chuckle! laugh.gif

All I could think was, oh Lord, please don't let me ever sit in a parking lot and pluck chin hairs! I can't even imagine what the college students must have been thinking!! ohmy.gif

HAHA! Cute story, Mrsb76! I'll bet that little lady didn't give a hoot who saw her! I think as we get older, we stop caring what people say. Ya think?

Anyway, you can add me to the Chin Pluckers Club. I'll be watching TV, reading or whatever, start feeling those sharp stubbles, and am compelled to jump up right then and there to take care of those little buggers. I park my tweezers right by a well-lit mirror. laugh.gif

So it seems that plucking is the way to go with chin hairs. I can live with that.

But my stash I need to get rid of. Maybe I will try bleaching. I mean in the summer, when I tan my stash is less noticable (I think), but in the winter, with my plale skin it stands out.

Why is this happeneing? First I was loosing my hair (after my pregnancies) which lasted on and off for 6 years. Then it stopped! Horrah....but it was short lived because then those nastly chin hair came. I can't catch a break!

If electrolosys (??) was an option I would do it without the worry about cost...but my hair is not coarse enough...go figure.

There MUST be a better way than bleaching, waxing and shaving. A permanant way that is!

Thanks for posting ladies.

tongue.gif laugh.gif you ladies are funny!! The fluctuating hormones can create the "hair" problems in the face and boobs. I've used the bleaching items for the mustache, waxing and shaving (a little electronic shaver called Personal touch, the size of a pencil) - and I prefer the shaving. It takes about 30 seconds for the hair removal, every other week. I use a tweezer for the long chin and boob hair.
LivetoLove25
But in general facial hair does npt grow back thicker and faster when plucked, shaved and waxed right?
NiteOwl
Definitely, hormones must keep hair at bay! Remember pregnancy? I hardly had to shave my legs those last few months... which is a good thing because I couldn't see my legs the last few months, much less get there with a razor in my hand! laugh.gif
joliejacq
I snip-snip the moustache hairs (fun, fun!) with scissors. One of my friend just flat-out shaves... tongue.gif

The one course boob hair I've been "razing" for years. Hubby calls it my witch's t*t. smile.gif

Aw, the joys!!!

I am fortunate to be a fair-haired child.
I say this because my sister has had a (very noticable) moustache since she was a teen.
She tried electrolasis, bleaching, waxing, plucking, but she has yet to come up with a solution, thirty years later.
Now she shaves almost daily. (and it doesn't grow back thicker, darker, faster, it just grows back)

I have been more fortunate in our family, I am the "fair-haired kid". (Sorry, Ladies) I can shave my legs, or not, blonde, doesn't show.
My guy, however, thought it was odd that I had so much hair around my nipples, for heavens sake, I had more chest hair than he did! tongue.gif
Well,tough noogies!
He asked if I would think about getting rid of it, I asked if it was really important.
I still have my nipple hairs, still have him, and I DO pluck, but only when it bugs me!

But I have been developing chin hairs (easily taken care of by plucking), random chest hairs (also plucked) and tummy hairs (hurt more but still plucked)

My Mom, who may have had something to do with our genes sad.gif , made me promise to her that we would not let her be buried with "hairs hanging off her face". She was 75, and they were STILL growing.

May be waning of estrogen, taking over of progesteren, but whatever,,, IT s*cks, that along with all our mental and physical challenges we have to face now we also have to deal with EXTRA HAIR!
