Hi Girls,

I didnt know where to post this question so I figured food.......okay here. lol. Got up today and decided to make an cheese and mushroom omelette. Found some mushrooms in the fridge that we kinda old but didnt look scary enough for me to throw away. Had my omelette and because I have a sore mouth this week tossed back a vitamin c as well. Now.............within two hours I am on the couch curled up in a ball in agony!! Burning and cramping.........OMG.......but came with sore throat too and overwhelming fatigue. Fell asleep or passed out...not sure....for a couple hours..........woke up....cramping gone but the nausea and burning still there...............................still here now. Now heres the question. Stomach flu without a fever?? Food poisoning from the mushrooms? Or violent reaction to the vitamin C today? I dont take it every day incidentally........................so any thoughts? Do Mushrooms go off????????

I get this when I eat cheese. I have eaten cheese all my life and this came on within the last couple of years. sad.gif

Hey Jadie, could be a bout of a stomach flu ~ I've had it before without a fever. I am
currently having some kind of sinus/bronchial mess without a fever ~ have had it now for
almost two weeks. LOTS of crap going around! Drink as much fluids as you can and hope
you are feeling better!
HUGS!

jadie: Could be just about anything...I've never heard of mushrooms going bad...I think they would have to look moldy to make you sick. I do know that Vitamin C can be rough on the stomach...I've got a bad gut and if I take too much I get really sick.

On the other hand, I agree with the others...there is a LOT of stuff going around...I thought I was over my flu, then woke up this morning with swollen glands...go figure...

Thanks girls! I was almost convinced I had salmonella! Woke up this morning with gut rot..........real bad burning so instead of trying to eat something with too much protein I opted for oatmeal and it settled much better. The coffee however kinda irritated so now its water for the day. Alice......the cheese....I am an addict...........and the older the cheese the better...........and strangely enough.............I find my mouth gets very sore when I eat cheese lately.....................so yes.......I did put old chedder in that omelette yesterday....quite a fair bit of it actually............certainly is something worth thinking about isnt it??

HI

I have recently been told I have a yeast allergy - mushrooms therefore are off menu for me - I get pains like this when I eat onions or Marmite. Am on yeast reduction diet

I have also changed diet to elimante cows milk (now on goats) - always been a bit of a picky eater but peri has turned my digestive system upside down

Am actually eating much better diet than a year ago - I get the burning pains too and also eat oatmeal for breakfast - good way to start the day (and I hera it is good for depression too!)

I have also cut out all stimulants - coffee/tea etc

Hmmmm well........Marmite looks like molasses.........contains more yeast than most breads.......tastes like ummmmm...........well.........to me it tastes like crushing my multivitamin, mixing it with maltevol......a liquid vitamin with iron in it.......and spreading it on toast. blech blech. lol. But.....my mother seems to think its blo*dy marvellous..................as do most Brits..................cept this one. lol. And then of course there is vegamite.......but we aint getting into that one. So now......if I have not aptly described this then we will let one of the connisours (sp?) of this delightful spread explain it instead............he he he he.

jadie: So it's like jam? You put it on toast in the morning? Wow, when you said vegamite, I got thrown back to the eighties...didn't Phil Collins talk about a vegemite sandwich in some song of his? Do I have the right rock group?

Nah, I think it was Men at Work... biggrin.gif

I can't eat onions anymore either but then just about everything I do eat makes me feel crappy! mad.gif

I get something like that if I eat/drink anything with too much milk - especially cream in it - without taking Lactaid! It is a 3 day experience for me - starts about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs after ingesting the item. First stomach upset, allergy symptoms, fatigue or lightheadedness - then it goes more into lower intestine symptoms - fun, fun! Believe me, I remember my Lactaid - it was a God sent!!! I was on almost no milk products before I discovered it.

I feel like I am in labor if I drink Slim Fast or Carnation Instant Breakfast

My stomach can be badly affected by some foods, usually those that were my favourites!

Going out for a meal is no pleasure anymore as I worry that something will set me off...cheese, cream, prawns, onions sad.gif

I'll get a hot feeling in my gut and then either gas or a dash for the toilet.

I've substituted thinly sliced cabbage for onions and that seems to work well. ph34r.gif
