This is my first post, so I want to introduce myself, my name is Peggy, I'm 53, and a week and a half away from being period free for 1 year, I notice the closer I get to that wonderful year mark the more my symptoms get worse, gee is this normal? I have never had a hot flash in the respect that I sweat, I think I would like too if it would make the hot feeling go away sooner. My face gets flushed, I feel hot, but my ear gets red and hot,it doesn't last long and then afterwards I'm cold, not chilly but cold. And out comes the afgan, at night I am either covering up or uncovering, my husband finds this very amusing, huh if he were only me. So, can this be part of a hot flash? Right now I am sitting here with my window open, and my neighbors are out walking in full winter gear. I have been reading the Power Surge board for a while and you ladies will never know how much comfort you have given me, for awhile I thought I was loosing my mind, Thank you so much. Seeing that I will be a year soon (hope, hope) how much longer will I be having symptoms? thanks again.

Sounds like a hot flash! smile.gif

I mostly get them in my face, so relate to what you're describing.

As far as getting worse the longer you are without a period, that hasn't been my experience - I got better! BUT - other women have talked about this; you're not alone. We all seem to be on our own particular "time line" that doesn't seem to correlate with when our periods actually stop. It seems more related to the transition itself, rather than particular PHASES of the transition. The best course seems to be to take it a day at a time.

BTW, some days I put on and take off my sweater about 200 times! happy.gif

Wishing you well, and welcome to Power-Surge. There's great info here!

Peggy, I never got a lot of flashes, but when I did I didn't sweat. It would start at my neck and then spread. Since they were scant, I kind of found them humorous. I'm sure that's what you're feeing!

Thanks so much for the replies, I feel ever so much better then I did before posting, maybe because it is cold out and snowing. And I just woke up feeling well, so I am going to enjoy it while I can, we all know just how quick it can change.
I have tryed the soy and I did see some change in the way I felt, but I have never tryed red clover, I would be interested, could you tell me what it is?
Thanks so much
Peggy
