I am 47 and have been spotting off and on for five months, but have only bled heavily for one week. I have a significantly thick endometrial lining and have been diagnosed with simple hyperplasia with mild atypia, and have a D&C scheduled in 6 weeks.

Problem: I am going on a 3 week long vacation in 10 days, and my doctor is starting me on Progestin (I'm not sure what dosage yet) for 10 days. What can I expect? Does anyone know how soon the bleeding will start, how much one bleeds, and how long? I realize that everyone is different, but I am looking for some ranges. Thank you for your help.

Is there any way you could ask him for Prometrium instead?

I don't want to sound intrusive here, but I thought I should tell you a little of what I have learned.

Prometrium is a bio-identical hrt whereas Progestin is not. Bio-identical means it is molecularly
identical to what is made by our ovaries. I have heard of better outcomes with the bio-identicals. I use Prometrium along with estrogen (also bio) and have had good luck. Just something to consider. Maybe some of the other ladies will weigh in on this as well.
