First thing I did was go on a super-low-fat diet. For three months, I was really really conscientious about everything that went into my mouth. I made separate meals for myself and my family. I turned down every bit of junk food that appeared at work. After three months of this, I went back to the doc confident that I would see results. My cholesterol had gone down...by three points. It was down to 235 from 238. I almost cried. The only good thing was that my bad cholesterol had gone down and the good had gone up and my triglycerides had gone down drastically.
Next I tried the plant sterols, using Cholest-Off. After six weeks (the time it says it takes to see results), my cholesterol was 236, up a point.
I added exercise, doing aerobics twice a week. No change.
After all this frustration, I was almost ready to give in to the doc's attempt to start me on meds, but then a friend told me that Revival Soy had lowered her cholesterol. I decided to give that a try.
I had a cholesterol test on November 2, then I started on the Revival that day. It said to give it three months for results. So on February 2 (yes, I am obsessive/compulsive, why do you ask?
Triglycerides went from 115 to 63
Cholesterol went from 248 to 229
HDL (good cholesterol) went from 46 to 54
LDL (bad cholesterol) went from 179 to 162
Not a drastic result, but still a positive one! An actual improvement for the first time!
So despite studies that had me doubting the effectiveness of soy protein, my own personal results show that it did have a positive effect on my lipid profile.
Just wanted to share with everyone!
