Full Version: Throat Flutters?

Is anyone else feeling this throat flutter? Not exactly a heart flutter, and not quite a choking sensation but... an actual flutter in my throat. I've felt this from time to time in the last 4 months but since last night I think this has happened about 20 times. Only thing different is I started on Buspar two days ago. Very low dosage. Now I'm not sure if it's the Buspar or just my anxiety symptoms acting up again.

Also have a pinched nerve and left side sinus headache all week. Not sure if that could be related at all. Hmmm....

Ali, this is an esophageal spasm. Does it make you cough? I think it's pretty common. I just ignore it (just like the rest of my ridiculous symptoms!)

Ya, I've been kinda ignoring it. I guess I was just concerned because it usually only happens occasionally but has happened a lot in the last 24 hrs. Probably nothing but the usual stress of not knowing what the hell is going on! This too shall pass...

Thanks!

I get this.....anxiety definitely brings it on and/or makes it worse. I find if I take a xanax to relieve the anxiety, that this will disappear with it.

Although this has never happened before today, I am feeling the flutter while eating or breathing in deeply. Like I said... it just feels differently than usual - but why would that suprise me? There's a new symptom everyday!

The fun never ends.

And here I go again! I thought it was just me! Yes- I have throat flutters- especially when I have lots of stress and anxiety. I also have some hyperthyroidism- and I thought that was part of it too. I go to see an endo next week. Though i'm looking inot alternative methods for this. I've been taking 5HTP for anxiety and a little extra magnesium and it seems to work wonders.

Hi there: I was reading your board and I noticed you mentioned that you started using Buspar. I've been given Buspar and I was planning on starting to take it beginning next Saturday. Did you get any weird symptoms after taking it? My doctor also gave me a very low dosage but I haven't had the courage to start taking it. I suffer from free flowing anxiety especially when I drive and I'm really sick of it. I hate the fact that I have to be so dependent on others to take me somewhere especially if it involves freeway driving and even at that I have to take something when I'm a passenger. I want to be able to drive myself around if I choose to. Please let me know how you're doing on the Buspar.

Thanks

I can't take Buspar or Wellbutrin because of the flutters. It feels like in my throat but it actually is my heart skipping a beat! FYI!!! biggrin.gif

P. S. I am a nurse and have many Doctor friends. Tell your Doctor about this symptom. I just wrote about the flutters actually being a skipped heart beat!
It also happens with gingkobiloba used for memory! My Doctor/friend from years ago told me some herbs/meds can do that!!! Just FYI

Roxie & nslautr...

I was taking the BuSpar and I stopped. I really do believe that it was causing this flutter with me. If it was a skipped heart beat I don't know but I was REALLY uncomfortable - it was not painful, just uncomfortable. I did read somewhere about the skipped heart beat side effect so I wondered if it was that.

Roxie, I was also commenting on the BuSpar thread you started. I was kinda afraid to tell you the problems I was having because I realize it is different for everyone and I didn't want to discourage you from at least trying it. I felt these symptoms as soon as the second day - and I stopped taking it and I am fine... so I don't want you to be afraid to try (although I'm sure you are).

I e-mailed "ask the experts" and was told that the doctor had definitely heard of the side effects I'd described with BuSpar. I'm back to just taking Xanax when needed. Usually half of a .25 tablet in the morning and another at night. Sometimes I don't need any, sometimes I need more. I'm exploring lifestyle changes and natural remedies as I know I can't take the xanax forever. I also just stopped taking birth control at my ob/gyn's advice. I'll see if that makes any difference for me.

Good luck. Let me know how it's going for you.
