I'm 49, just missed two periods, married 31 years, have been on natural progesterone cream for two years. The cream has worked well...no hot flashes, even moods, and no weight gain. The problem now....no sex drive. There is no psychological basis for this given the marriage is good. I refuse to use synthetic hormones. Has anyone used the Viacreme? Also can someone give me information on the bio-identicals? Are they natural or synthetic. I also have concerns about DHEA given it is a form of steroid. I really need some feedback to help get back on track. I'm new to the message boards and this site appears to be exactly what I need. Thanks.

This is my first time on board. I'm almost 40 and have been experiencing perimenopause symptoms for the past 10 years. I didn't know that those symptoms are perimenopausal symptoms (anxiety attacks, vaginal dryness, low libido, mood swings, hair loss, irregular periods, etc.) my doctor prescribed low dose BC pills, but I couldn't stand the side effects. Now, I'm on natural progesterone creme. I've been on it for 2 weeks now and I noticed that I have no desire to have sex since I started using it. Will this get better? Has anyone have the same experience? Please help I need to know how I can get my old sex life back...Thanks in advance.....Addicted to love.

I just recently tried a testosterone patch. My sex drive most definitely has improved. I also refused to use synthetic hormones and I didn't care for the cream so this has been a great way for me to take testosterone replacement. I even think I have more energy than before. You might want to get some information on it from them.

I have no sex drive what's so ever. There is absolutely nothing there. I tolerate sex with my husband else he begins to get cranky. I have no desires nothing... I have been going through this perimenopause time for about a year now. I have a 4 year old that I nursed till she was three, so my hormones have probably been out of whack for a long time. Has anyone who has gotten through this time and is on the other side now have improved sex drive... Love to all... Susan...

DHEA is for muscles strength. I take it everyday before I exercise. It also is used in helping regulate the other hormones to get them in check. We lose our Dhea as we get older.
When Pete from College put me on it, I had more energy in the a.m I take it after breakfeast. I also noticed a increase in my muscle tone. As for sex?? I don't think so. I've been on it for 6 months and my libido is somewhat empty. I too use a cream (VIACREAM) that gets me going.
I thought my sex drive would last for ever...good thing we have so many options, I'd hate to give it up...so would my husband... Is'nt it great that we can talk openly about these things here? I would'nt tell my best friends the things I tell here.

It's been a while since I checked the forum. I'm seriously thinking of trying the viacream which I believe is the same thing as the cream mentioned. I've checked all over and don't see anything that indicates it's a bad idea. It may be expensive, but if it helps get me going again, it will be worth every penny. My poor husband has been patient long enough and I'm sick of feeling dead inside. I saw info on Vivace, but that is something you put under your tongue. Seems to me that is quite a distance from the area of concern. Any more feedback from others who have used viacream? Thanks.

I can't encourage you all enough to use the entire Web site, rather than relying on answers to all of your questions on these message boards. There's excellent information shared here, but there's a enormous volume of information on the rest of the Web site, including about DHEA. You can find it simply by using the SEARCH feature in the drop-down menu at the top of each screen.
To start, there's a comprehensive article about DHEA in Power Surge Newsletter 20.

I have been using Progest and it works Great for me with Hot Flashes....but i need something for no sex drive. I have tried Viacreme as others have mentioned, but that only enhances an orgasm. I need something to help bring back my drive, my interest in sex. When i took estrogen, sex drive came back the first week but then disappeared...same thing happened with estratest. I don't understand why it works for a week then suddenly goes away....does that mean the dosage is to high? Is there an over the counter testosterone cream? Can someone help answer these questions for me....Thanks.

Thank you ....I suspected that the instructions to use the cream daily was just a gimmick to have us use more of the product. However, you attest to it helping in the long run if used daily. I will do so....only when I tried that, I found I was ready to go and no husband was present. Ha. Will try to control myself. Also...I checked out the supplements. The only question there is the use of Dong Quia (unsure of spelling). I have heard in the past some not so positive aspects of the herb. I still may go with it. As it stands, I use natural progesterone cream once daily and take evening primrose which is a help also, i.e., no hot flashes, even moods, and a lessening of carbo cravings. This is such a wonderful site and I'm forever thankful. The slight incontinence issue applies to me also, so that's another reason to give it a try. Just debating in my mind at this point. Thanks again.

Dong Quai is also known as Angelica. According to Prevention magazine, it's a good supplement for menopausal women. Are you sure you're not thinking of Ma Huang, otherwise known as ephedra? Now that's dangerous!

I rechecked the possible problems with Dong Quai and am still finding that the jury is still out. Seems there may be a link to increased risk of breast cancer and/or worsening a case of breast cancer. One never knows who to believe or what evidence all of this is based upon. I think for the time being, I will stay with the natural progesterone, evening primrose, and of course the cream. If this doesn't help with all the "fun" of menopause, I will then go for the supplements. Thank you again for all your help. It's wonderful knowing I'm not going through this alone.

Lynda,My understanding is that if you take estrogen orally it raises the level of serum hormone binding protein. This protein binds free testosterone, removing it from the circulation. This is why ladies on birth control pills also experience a drop in libido. Perhaps you should try testosterone cream to improve your libido. If you take estrogen, use the transdermal variety, which does not raise hormone binding protein levels. Ask Pete about it, he probably can expalin it much better than me.

Becky127 I have tried Viacreme. I have not experienced menopause todate, but my mother has. I suffered from vaginal dryness and after having my daughter had trouble achieving orgasm. I purchased some Viacreme and have not looked back since. Viacreme saved my marriage from divorce and I now help educate women on viacreme. I also introduced viacreme to my mother and she has never been happier.

I couldn't agree more with the use of viacream or euphoria cream. I have the best of both worlds now. My sex drive started to go about 2 years ago and at present is dead. When I use the cream I'm ready to go and in the mood whenever my husband is. The sex is great. When he isn't in the mood, that's just fine with me. I can tailor my moods to his. This is the funny part. For so long he has complained that we didn't have enough sex. After I purchased the cream we had sex 5 times the first week. After the initial shock of having a wife ready for sex, he now only wants it about once a week. He even complained of a headache two days ago, and last night said it was too late in the evening to have sex. It was a Friday night and 10:00. What a hoot. I love this.......I now don't have to feel guilty anymore!!!! Yeah. This morning though it's clear what his intentions are for tonight. Fine by me.

suseyq - Viacreme is a topical compound containing natural ingredients - water soluble (no prescription required) that is intended to be rubbed into a woman's clitoris prior to or during arousal/foreplay. Studies have found that women only achieve orgasm 25% of the time with intercourse. Women can have intercourse without having an erection, therefore never achieve orgasm, therefore make up excuses when tired, stressed etc.
Viacreme is intended to help maximally arouse the woman to have a clitoral erection and achieve orgasm during intercourse, with the ultimate goal of being equal to men, which is 98%. A woman's sexual desire and satisfaction is directly related to her ability to achieve and enjoy an orgasm. The other great thing about Viacreme is that it causes an instant reflex vaginal lubrication (your body does it on it's own) and this is the first component of a woman's arousal. Through my personal expereience of teaching women about this product, it is the aid in lubrication that has helped women the most, particularly in menopausal women.

You can get Viacreme directly from Power Surge pharmaceutical consultant, Pete Hueseman (who has been with Power Surge seven years) and his Bellevue Pharmacy Solutions. It may not be listed on Bellevue's site yet as the site is still in the finishing stages.
I noticed someone asked him a question about it in the Ask The Experts area and he said they sold it. Pete's area is located here.
