We are looking for a new mattress and just about decided on a Tempur-pedic when I read that people who like cool beds might not be happy with them because they tend to store body heat. That just about made me cry. The thought of increased heat is unbearable.
If you get night sweats and have a tempurpedic bed, please let me know what you think. Does it make the situation worse?

I have the mattress topper with down cover (from Sleep Innovations)...virtually the same as the Tempurpedic...and it hasn't made my night sweats any worse...I don't find the bed any warmer, and the comfort is wonderful!!!!!!! I am sleeping much better since we got it. Good luck!!

Hi Serrenissima;
Me Too, Same as IrishLass. I am usually always too hot and the Foam Topper I bought does not increase my body heat, and it provides unbelievable comfort.

I first had a Sleep Innovations mattress that was comfortable but made me hot. I really liked the memory foam mattress, but it seemed that I sunk too far into the bed. I came across another forum talking about this exact problem and a few people suggested getting a 5lb memory foam mattress with provides more support and you don't "sink" into it as much. I looked around, but couldn't afford a Tempurpedic...$3500 is just a bit too much.
Ended up buying one from SleepWarehouse, which a friend recommended to me. The bed is extremely comfortable and I like the firmer 5lb foam. It was a ton cheaper and I didn't sleep nearly as hot. Very happy overall.

We just ordered the foam bed that is in all the Marriott hotels. It's made by Jamison. The queen mattress, box springs, cushy mattress cover were $1200 which includes set-up and removal of old mattress. We bought this particular one because when we travel we stay primarily at Marriotts and we both noticed that we were sleeping better in the hotel than at home. Since we've never slept on the Temper-pedic we thought we'd better stick with what we know is comfortable. It should be here in the next week or so. I can't wait for another good nights sleep....

We got one last Christmas and it does make the night sweats seem to last longer. At least the heat seems to stay longer. The bed is very comfortable and maybe it is just me and I'd be hot not matter what. When I do sleep the bed is fantastic.

Hi Ladies,
I also have the memory foam on top of my mattress and I love it, but my honey thinks its hot. I just recently started getting night sweats never had them before the foam. Ive had the foam for a year now so dont think its that causeing them. I wake all sweaty get up change cool off an go back to bed, and then Im usally fine for the rest of the night. The comfort is wonderful I dont think I can live without it now LOL. I told my honey if I have to make a choice the foam WILL WIN. Lol!

Hi. I bought one of these today, but have 90 days to cancel the order. Does anyone have any knowledge about whether the chemicals that comprise this memory foam are toxic? It never occurred to me until my daughter brought it up. Thanks for your help.

We just got a new Silver Lakes Series by Sealy and its is just terriffic. It even helps with arthritis type pain and it feels like I am sleeping on a cloud.
It wasn't that expensive, relatively, and I am sleeping much better. I might even lose some of my nocturnal ways before too long. This would be a nice improvement in my lifestyle.

I have been thinking of getting one of the mattress toppers, but I question weather they are thick enough to keep the pressure points from hitting the harder mattress underneath. If you have a topper, does it really do the trick?

I bought a topper for my bed in Florida, and it helps, but it's not the wonderful marshmellow that the other bed is!

Hi. I'm new to these forums, and yep, I have one of those Tempur-pedic mattress. Holy cow, is THIS what's been causing me to be so hot? I never thought about the mattress before. Argh.
Now, the night attacks have abated somewhat (because of homeopathy), but I'm still really warm. I can only sleep with light jammies and a sheet, with a fan blowing right on me. I don't think I can afford to replace that mattress, tho. It was something hubby insisted on having, and the stupid thing cost $2,000 (CA King size). He slept on it 2 whole nights. But, my savings have been depleted.

Firstly, Memory Foam doesn't breathe. I'm a hot person and need air circulation.
Secondly, a lot of the cover quilts (and even the toppers) on mattresses these days have visco memory foam. It just doesn't always say it does. That's what makes it so comfy. I poersonally have found even the pillowtop mattresses keep my body heat in. I've returned many.
Ladies, don't let them take your old mattress away. They make it easy to do so for some odd reason...hmm And return the new mattress if you're too hot. It can be a hassle but why should we have to lose sleep every night because they use memory foam and don't mention it.

I dont believe it! I have a bad back so I have just bought a memory foam mattress! It came this morning so i haven't tried it yet. I am having terrible night sweats so I hope it doesn't make me worse.
I can't sleep anyway on my present bed. It is so uncomfortable I end up sleeping in the guest bed in a spare room.
