Hey Ladies,
I need some help. I have never had a yeast infection, but latley I have been having a clear discharge, and sometimes it is light brown in color.

I don't notice it until I go to wipe myself after going to the bathroom. Sometimes it just a little and sometimes it is alot.

It has been coming after my periods.

Will we ever get back to our old selves mad.gif

I am getting really fed up with feeling good for a day (maybe), then something hits you!!

Anyway, please help. Thanks smile.gif

Hi there,

If this were a yeast infection, you would have terrible itching - speaking from experience! The kind of itching you simply can not stand!

Are you sure it's just not leftover from the period? I had the brown spotting before and after periods - it could go on for days.

It wouldn't hurt to have this checked by your doc. But again, I really don't think it's infection.

Good luck!

JJ

Hey JJ,

No this is different than the spotting brown, I have that.

This is like a mucas kind of stuff, anyway not to go into to much nasty detail, but I have an appointment with my gyno tommorow.

Thanks for the feed back anyway!!

Issy, I get this ALOT...sometimes before my period and then the mucus has a light red tinge to it, and then after the brown color....

Thank you, thank you smile.gif That's exactly what it is, I find it amazing how we all have so many of the same problems with our bodies around this time, but yet the doctors don't have a clue.

I am putting both my gp and gyno out on the curb, starting over again.

Good luck with your new job DaMomma tongue.gif

hi Is-I have also been having a clear discharge for ages-I posted on it when I joined this site. There are quite a few of us with it and none of us seem to get to the bottom of it. It is not like the normal discharge you get when you are young and "normal". Mine started about two months before my periods stopped and was watery and uncomfortable-enough to wear a tampon. It is sometimes dark yellow so it sounds similar to what you describe.
My doctor just told me it was just my body producing too much oestrogen, but I dont know how that can be when I am not having periods any more.
I too, thought it was an infection, but everything came back normal. it will be interesting to see what your gyno says. Please make sure you let us know smile.gif

Janet C,

I experienced the watery discharge with yellow tinge awhile back for maybe 3 months and then it stopped after I started using a estriol vaginal suppository.

The discharge is due to thinning of the vaginal wall from low estrogen. Anyway, keep an eye on it as sometimes thinning of vaginal wall leads to vaginal bacterial and yeast infection.

smile.gif Thank you plumeria-yes, I know you said that to me before. However, I have been using vagifem vaginal tablets for 5 weeks which are similar your estriol suppositories. I have actually been much worse on them- the discharge has been much heavier than it was before. They also seemed to bring on a period.
One of the side effects of the tablets is supposed to be a vaginal discharge, so I dont really know what is causing what any more!
I decided to stop using the vagifem last Monday, and I must admit, the discharge has decreased. However, if the original discharge was caused through low oestrogen, then I will need to keep using the vagifem to prevent the vaginal thinning.
I'm going around in circles, will it ever end?
I think I will give it a few more days and then try using the vagifem maybe once a week. I think the dose I was on was too strong for me, as I was getting other side effects as well.

Keep an eye on it, she says. blink.gif Sounds uncomfortable. And that will prevent it from getting worse?!

Shoot! I have a discharge --almost daily-- that started after I stopped taking HRT. I thought I was feeling sexy again! rolleyes.gif

Now, you say it's my vaginal wall thinning out. Rats! I do worry about the smell, too. My own sense of smell is almost gone, so I'm always worrying whether I smell a bit off. I have taken to wearing lightweight pantyliners all the time now, and I just change it whenever I visit the bathroom.

I have contemplated douching more often, but from what you're saying it sounds like I should not do that, as it might accelerate the thinning--or am I confusing the issue here? huh.gif

p.s. DaMomma, what is that avatar of yours?

I'm really glad I've found this post. I've been period-free for about 18 months, and have been having an on-off discharge for a month or so; I'm going to see my doctor soon. It seemed to start just as my hot flashes/night sweats were ending (typical, one thing ends and another one starts). It's actually quite similar to the kind of mucous-y discharge I used to have when I was having periods and when I was on HRT.

All you ever read about is vaginal dryness; I've got just the opposite!

I just cant get rid of mine. I have been on vagifem for a while now as I said before and I have not found it to work. I have been referred to a gyn seeing her Thursday, so I will let you know what she says.
