Hi-I'm 42 and currently going thru menopause. My saliva tests showed extremely low estrogen and too much testosterone, progesterone and DHEA (even while wearing .1 mg. Climera patch). I had a partial hysterectomy 11 years ago so I still have my ovaries. I would have figured I had low testosterone since I have such low libido and thinning hair but tests showed otherwise. My dr. thought too that my body is not changing my testosterone to estrogen fast enough so he signed the prescription to go with bio-identical hormones with Pete for more estrogen.

Does anyone know about how long it takes for hormones to change to what your body needs? I really wish I could get my libido back. And what side effects are there if testosterone and DHEA stay elevated?

Hi Kathy,

Sounds like your tests read just like mine. My testosterone was higher than hubby's yet my libido was crashed. I started the bio's from Pete about 3 months ago. After the 1st month my testosterone was cut in 1/2 - down to normal and my estrogen was higher. My libido was up as well. Still losing lots of hair.

I asked about the risks of too much testosterone. Seems like there aren't many deadly ones - just irritating: rosacea, pimples, hair on face. That's about all I can remember.

Let us know how it goes!

Thanks so much Rendy! I thought I was one of the strange ones with higher levels! I am waiting for my first shipment of bi-est from Pete and can't wait to start them. It's really scary when I make my bed every morning and there's hair all over my pillow. I've never experienced that before. And PIMPLES! I've always had such a smooth and clear complexion and now I break out all over. And talk about irritating black thick hairs on my chin. It's not bad but every week when I'm tweezing my eyebrows I have to pluck a hair from the chin area. And my libido is totally gone. I love my husband so much and he's been so patient and I really miss fantasizing about him and I use to get excited when he would come home from trips due to his job, but now I'm still excited but I don't get those "funny" sexual feelings anymore. So I went back to my Dr. and he thought low testosterone too but when I got my levels back from the saliva test he was just as surprised as I was. Thank goodness Janna and Pete knew what I was talking about made several suggestions. I'll keep posted on how I do after I start taking the tablets.

Ditto Kathy on all those symptoms. Mind if I ask how much bi-est you were prescribed? I'm on 1.75mg.

Pete suggested Spirlactone to lower my testosterone but I passed. I Googled it and didn't like the potential side effects. I do love working with them. Let me know how it goes. You should start to feel better in a couple weeks.

They prescribed 1.25 Bi-est. I'll be going from .1 patch to the sublingual tablets. I can't wait. The patch isn't even lasting 5 days now. I felt great for 2 months but now declining again. I wish my travels thru menopause were easier so I could just go with supplements but I have 3 kids (21,20 and 18) (2 in college and 1 senior) and I'm an Office Manager for a dual chiropractic clinic-dealing with 2 male doctors and 7 girls is stressful enough! I love these boards because you're always able to find someone that's going thru what you're going thru. We're suppose to leave town tomorrow and visit my husband's parents. We have just been told his dad has bone cancer so I'm unsure as to whether to start the pills tomorrow when the pills arrive or just wait til after Sunday. Or I've been thinking about just sticking another 1/2 patch on til after Sunday. Did you start with Bi-est or did you go from one to another? Thanks for all your help!
