Help! I'm 39 yrs old and in the last 6 weeks all sorts of odd things have been happening. First it was heart palpitations and skipped beats which lead me directly to doctor's office - no anemia no thyroid problems. I had EKG (normal), holter monitor test which showed 8 irregular heart beats over 24 hours and then a stress test (normal). My doctor hasn't phoned me back which in his speak is "your results do not need any follow up". Then about 10 days ago I started getting weird dizzy spells. I don't really feel like I'm going to fall over (I can balance with my eyes closed) but my head is in a different space. I also have been waking up a night with my heart pounding. I feel great when I exercise and I can run two miles on the treadmill in 20 minutes. But these other symptoms are baffling to me. Could I be entering perimenopause? Are these symptoms linked to my cycle? They seem to be happening a little here, a little there. Any words of wisdom?

Welcome Madelyndella smile.gif. I think that my first post on Power Surge was about feeling dizzy. When my symptoms became severe I began feeling very dizzy which rolled into many other symptoms. It surely was difficult to believe that dizziness and many other symptoms could be related to hormone. I sure which someone would have warned me about the "joys" of perimenopause/menopause.

If your tests came back negative to rule out other possibilities I'd guess that you're going through perimenopause. You've definitely found a supportive site and I hope that you find comfort here. Keep posting. cool.gif

Thanks for the welcome Myfaith! This site is great biggrin.gif I was beginning to think I was going crazy - one thing would get better and something else weird started to happen. The dizziness/spaced out thing is really bizarre - it appears and disappears when it wants. I wake up feeling fine and then 30 minutes later, I'm slightly off. If this is just the beginning of perimenopause, I can't say I'm looking forward to the rest of it tongue.gif

Hi Madelyndella,

How are you.. and welcome smile.gif

When you say dizzy or "off" Do you mean you have the feeling of being off balance....like tilted??

I Know how that feels,Madelyn,Ive had the off balance feeling for over a yr now.

it comes and goes now but for a long time it was with me all day every day.

I hope you have some comfort knowing there are other women with these symptoms and that your not alone.

Hormones sometimes can take a while to settle down and balance out.

I hope your feeling better soon.

Enjoy the site ..keep reading and you will soon feel better smile.gif Hang in there it does settle and get better wink.gif

Welcome,
Lynda

Yes, the dizzy feeling is an off-balance kind of feeling. Sometimes my legs or arms feel like they are not quite right. I'm going to a neurologist once I get an appointment. Not a lot of fun!

Bless your heart hon it's not alot of fun...I've been dealing with the dizziness for over a year...when it first started my Dr sent me for a cat scan of my head..thyroid,and cholestrol tests were fine....then the heart palps started...a stress test, ekg, chest x-ray,and they've even as far to do a heart cath...everything is fine ( I still have chest pain from time to time) now a neuroligist did an mri and told me I have degenerative bone disease and arthritus in my back and that "could" be messing with my nerves in my arms and leggs cause the pain, skin crawling, tingling feelings...sometimes that is unreal...it is scary..agravating and a pain in the butt....i have days i don't even wanna leave the house....but we can handle it...we are strong and gettin stronger!

I'm 39 too - my body started going wacky about a year ago and yes dizziness has been a problem for me as well. It comes and goes - just when I think it has disappeared for good I get another bout of it. I've gotten to where I take a cart when I go shopping just to hang on to, because there have been times when everything has been spinning so hard I feel like I'm going to fall over!

I've had the ekg, holter, stress test - I've passed them all with flying colors. I've seen every "ologist" know to man in the past year and they all say I'm perfectly healthy! For that I am thankful, however, how come I feel so rotten? It has to be perimenopause. I am so thankful for the women and the posts here. If not for reading through these posts and being reassured, I would be a bundle of anxiety over all of this.

Thanks for the support - it means a lot to me to know other people are going through some of the same things. It's so easy to scare yourself silly - especially when you start googling all the different symptoms. In the past month I've been scared I have MS, ALS, a brain tumour, heart problems...so far no diagnosis of anything. Anytime I mention peri to anyone they all say (including my mother) oh - you're too young! The dizzy thing is irritating though (and so is the feeling of having very heavy arms and legs). Nothing I've read in conventional books links these things to peri - so I was very relieved to find this site. It's nice to have company on this journey!

I've got the heavy arms and legs going on too! I have forced myself to stop "googling" my symptoms, as I've had myself convinced that I had MS or ALS too. Then I hop on the treadmill to prove that indeed my legs still work fine! Instead I visit the board here and usually find comfort! Glad we are in this together!

I can't tell you how much it means to me to find someone else my age with these weird symptoms - and I too get on the treadmill 2-3 times per week and the legs work -but afterwards they were "heavier" than ever! Have a good day thunderhill and everyone else out there in the land of hormone weirdness.
