Full Version: Yet another strange symptom

Hi there, I wasn't sure where to post this message, so I thought I'd post it here.

Now for some reason and this is quite strange, I keep getting pains in both sides of my waistline which moves around into my back, at times it almost feels like it could be kidney pain. I have been tested for a kidney/urinary infection which was negative. This symptom is quite new (over the past three months), and can get quite severe. I don't no whether it is actually caused by hormones, although I don't think it is coming from the pelvic area. Maybe it is part of the symptoms of Irritable bowel, which are definately worse from around ovulation time and up until my period.

Does anyone get pain in both their sides and into their back? Is this another symptom of perimenopause or could it be IBS? It does seem co-incidental that I don't get this pain after my period ends, I notice it more when I start ovulating again.

I am going back to my doctor because it is quite troublesome now, even though it is not here all the time. Another thing I have noticed it's worse when I am lying in bed. The trouble is I am thinking it could be all sorts of things. If anyone else has had this would you please let me know. I would really appreciate it. unsure.gif

Hi debow,
I have similar aches, but they are higher up, around my rib cage area. Also unexplained and I've been back to my doctor about it many times, had all kinds of imaging done, etc. It's so very frustrating when you can't find a cause for something like this.

smile.gif Hi ya,

I have similar aches to what you have described.....its funny but Ive just come in from the car where I was complaining to my husband about an achy pain under my right rib cage in the back area.......I think its like the reverse of "growing pains" that one experiences as a child.......I also do get the achy in the kidney areas.....could it be the weight gain around the lower body? I have often questioned that.....creating a pull of the muscles in the mid back area. Just a thought........

I have been dealing with this type of pain off and on for the last year also. the pain can very bad at times. I also have IBS but this is worse then any pain from IBS I have ever had before. I'm really thinking its muscular and the muscles actually start to spasm. Trying magnesium and calcium but have had not much luck yet. The pain seems to come and go at random although it does seem to be at its worst just before or immediately after a period. Lots of tests run also and no reason found. Very frustrating indeed sad.gif

Thanks for the replies,
I think that I will need further tests, so I am going to get an appointment next week with my doctor. I can't keep trying to carry on as normal with my mind running riot and with the pain/discomfort. I just hate going to the doctors, but I know I'll have to, so I may as well do it sooner rather than later.

Thanks again

I had a pain in my kidney area for about a month ( a few months ago) and it disappeared. Now I occasionally get the feeling like someone sneaking up from behind and squeezing that area in your sides, which makes you go Urrgh (do you know what I mean? blink.gif ) unsure.gif
