Power Surge Forums > Board Discussions > Am I Starting Perimenopause?
PollyR
I just turned 39 and started having crazy symptoms about 6 months ago. I didn't associate it with peri until I found this site since doctors are no help. But I'm starting to feel overwhelmed by all the symptoms and don't know what to do. My symptoms are:

burning/hot feelings in my face, neck, arms and feet
twitching all over the place
anxiety
insomnia

I've had a bunch of blood tests and everything was normal. I'm going to see a neuro next week which has me really nervous. I'm a little comforted by reading on here that a lot of you have had these same symptoms and turned out OK, but I guess I'm just needing a little extra assurance right now. My Mom died almost 2 years ago and I have no older female relatives or friends to talk to about this. I just started a new job and don't feel comfortable talking to any of the women I work with since I hardly know them so I'm feeling really lost. My GP thinks I have restless leg syndrome (even though I really don't have the symptoms) and wanted to put me on some new drug called Lyrica. I'm too afraid to take it so I'm just suffering. I just started taking Estroven today hoping that will do something, but I guess that takes a long time to work. I'm at my wits end with all the worrying. HELP!

Hi Polly,

Welcome to Power Surge. You'll find alot of emotional comfort here as well as
priceless information. Alot of us thought we were going crazy or had MS or ALS
because of all these bizarre symptoms. I'm 46 and my symptoms started about 2 years agao with vibration feelings in the center of my chest, followed by muscle twitching and spasms. I still am bother by the muscle spasms and am dealing with alot of "brain fog", depression, anxiety and insomnia.

You're wise not to share this personal information with people you work with, especially if it's a new job. Are you married? Have any close friends? You can always "talk" with any of us here at PS.

You could try supplementing with magnesium - it will help the restless legs if you have that problem. It will help the twitching as well.

Have you had a gyne check-up? Let us know what happens next !
