Hi Ladies,

I'm 47 years old and recently ( 2 months ago ) had only one ovary removed. So I still have one ovary and my uterus.

I started having chills in the hospital off for 7 days. When I came home from the hospital on the eighth day that when the night sweat started and have not stop yet.

I was confused because I thought that since I have one ovary and my uterus I should be getting enough hormones and I was wrong.

I did not have any signs of menopause before the surgery, but I have them now.
I would wake up three and four times during the night wet from sweating.

Like Nelly sings " It getting Hot in Here"
Im so glad that I have Central Air..... (smile) and 2 ceiling fans in my bedroom

My Ob-Gyn is talking about HRT but Im scare about taking them, I have heard about the risks involved and its do not sound good to me.

Im thinking about trying Zalestra and I hope that it will help me, if everyone have any suggestions about the night sweats and tx and/or experiences Zalestra. please let me know.

thanks.

I like your name, that's the year I was born. In a way, you could consider yourself lucky. Being hit with peri I mean, at the age of 47. Some women breeze right through menopause (I know of one, unless she's lying!) and some women have every horrendous symptom known. Some of these symptoms can start in your 30's. I've been perimenopausal since the age of 32. I have battled these symptoms on and off for 16 years. It has not been a constant battle, I have had a reprieve for a few years here and there. I thought that at one point or another I had had every symptom on the list but I realized..I have never had a migraine headache (knock on wood). I have had just about everything else though. Right now, at age 48, I shake sometimes like I have Parkinson's Disease, internal motor every now and then, have had heart palps for years, hot flashes (this summer has been one long hot flash) and I still have night sweats and I have had those things for 10 years. Started at the age of 38. I do not have them every night or if I do, some of them do not wake me up. So far I have not taken anything for any of these symptoms. There have been times I thought I did want to take something just to get some relief but I'm glad I didn't. About the HRT, I read that if you take that you are only postponing your symptoms. Don't know how true that is, I just read it. I'm not taking a chance. There might be something to that. I have a cousin in her late 50's who's been on that for years and her doctor took her off of it. Guess what, she's hot flashing and anxiety riddled. All it did was postpone HER symptoms. I think I would rather get my body used to having lower hormone levels now....not later. I don't know a thing about the bio-identicals they talk about on here but in my opinion (remember...opinions are like a**holes, everybody has one), it would be the same thing. You're feeding your body the things it's used to having when it needs to adjust to not having it. I truly believe I am through the worst part of peri, either that or how I feel is normal for me now. I am as nuts as they come....I have been screwy for years and years! I consider myself lucky in one aspect....I am optimistic. I've had the depression, it didn't stay with me, thank heavens. All I can say is do whatever works for you! I recently started taking a multi vitamin and mineral and that seems to have taken the edge off of some of the anxiety and shakiness. Either that or it's all in my head. Either way, I'm glad. Hang in there. You're definitely not alone. Keep us posted.
