I had two hot flashes this week during the night where I was so dizzy and nauseous that I became ill and vomited off and on for several hours. I had the usual other symptoms. The dizzy sensation has not completely gone away and it has been two days since the second hot flash. Has anyone heard of this before? Thanks.

That sounds pretty severe. Could it be that your hot flashes were exacerbated by a virus? I have had nausea/diarrhea with bad hot flashes, but it tended to go away in an hour or so.
Hope you feel better soon!

cinzee,
you may have a virus or it may be from hormones. I've lost 20lbs from the same thing. It's been 4 months and I am finally feeling better now. Do you have children? If so, did you have severe morning sickness? I did then so I do now

.
Certainly get a checkup - diabetes, thyroid, etc. If everything is ok, you might want to try the Revival shakes. They've really helped me.

You might want to have your DR. check you for an inner ear infection also. It can cause you to wake up with vertigo and get nauseous. Hope you get to feeling better.

My dear peri partners,
Do any of you ever feel that your face is burning and can go on the whole day burning. Then I get these strange almost ticklish sensation at the back of my head . The burning persists but the rest of my body is cold. It is awful and I dont know what else it could be as I have been checked by a neuro and had an MRI
Please help me by putting some light on this subject
Love to you all

I forgot to ask too. I am often feeling very nauseous at the smell of food . Not so much when I cook my own but almost as if I was pregnant. Of course I am not. but surely this must be hormonal too. Its awful I suddenly feel like I want to be sick when I get into the shopping centre where I work when I smell food. Today my colleague bought me a meat pie which I happily enjoyed. when she went to warm hers up just the smell made me feel nauseous/ Sometimes I really seem quite daft and wander who this person is because I was never quite like this.
please post some advise and suggestion.
Much appreciated

You are OKAY FF..really..in all inquires. The burning, the tingling, the cold and warmeth in other parts of the body at the same time and the nauseousness.
Just last night I vomitted in target..oh fun,..I was ok, just had a headache, and walked by their snack bar, and had to make a run for the john..I dont think Ill be going back to that* store for awhile.
I have said on here b4 that its almost as if being prego again...but if you stop and think about it. During pregnancy our hormones are all outta whack then too! Normal for pregnancy,..normal for peri/meno. Each pregnancy is different, each women experiences different things with their pregnancies, same as with p/m ... My heart goes out to the gals that havent experienced pregnancy, whether by their choice or not, because the upheaval has scared the ba-jeebers outta some. Heh actually I think it has scared it outta all of us, in one degree to another.
Keep a posting sweetie ok..dont ever allow yourself to think you are asking stupid questions. ok?
Hold on babe, we're in this together..some just farther than others...

DaMomma is so right when she describes the nausea and other feelings that come with it to be just like pregnancy. When I feel that way, it is exactly how I felt in those first few months of pregnancy, so the hormones are defintely at the bottom of this. I have tried to handle the nausea in a similar way as I did when pregnant, and what works for me, may not work for you. When I feel this way, there are certain foods that are easier to get down, and it helps me to eat small snacks every couple of hours (for some reason, I feel less nauseous if there is something in my stomach). Sometimes a liquid meal is all I can do (like ENSURE). I find that somehow I have to find ways to get food down, otherwise I start losing weight and feeling weak, which makes me feel worse. I don't know what to tell you about your sensitivity to smells - ideally you would just want to avoid them for awhile, but it sounds like that's not possible.....maybe just breathe from your mouth as much as possible so you don't get so affected by the smells? Good luck trying some things, and I hope you find some comfort.
