Hi..it is so lovely, huh??? Each one of us is different & I've talked to women who just had a little flush during the day, others who soaked the sheets at night. I went through the hot flashes/night sweats for about 6-7 years.
For awhile, for me, (at the worst of it all) I had hot flashes pretty much every half hour, morning noon & night...the hot flashes were sickening sometimes, just an all over awful feeling. Then I would feel so cold & shiver. The night sweats were probably more bothersome since I didn't sleep for quite a few years! I really don't think I slept a solid hour at a time. It was rough.
Hope something works for you...there's lots you can try, omitting certain foods/drinks from your diet, natural herbal supplements, over the counter stuff & prescriptions.
Good luck,
Spirit
Ohmygod YES you can have morning hot flashes! That's when I get mine (if that is what they are: my doc won't admit that they are since I'm still having a regular period). I get mine between 9 and 10:30, no matter what I'm doing or thinking. Every day. Anxiety, palpitations (although my pulse stays very low), a bit of heat from my hairline through my torso, and then I sweat--rolling down my sides. My concern is how long the sweating lasts--it takes about an hour or sometimes more to stop the sweating and the palpitations, although I'm not particularly hot all that time. I don't get them at night. I'm cold enough during the p.m. that I can wear sweaters.
I've cut out caffeine, hot showers, talking to certain people on the phone (it seems to cause anxiousness, which causes me to sweat profusely), I turn on the ceiling fan, breathe, tried black cohosh and evening primrose oil--nothing helps. Sometimes they are really long-lasting, sometimes very minor. But I have them.
