What are some of the things that contribute to hot flashes?

I am lightheaded/off balance 24/7. I have only about 3-4 days a month when I do not have this awful symptom. Since I have been recording how I feel each day I think I am seeing a trend between my lightheadedness and certain things. I feel more off balance when I am tired, when I am stressed, or when I am hot (i.e. a hot shower, outside in the sun etc). Does anyone else have these same symptoms?

Take care,
Jill

All the time. Especially when over tired. I just "ride" the feelings out. Can't do anything else.

janne,

Hon go to the top of this page and on the right side you will see... Power Surge Quick Links.. click on the arrow pointing down and highlight the area which states.. Educate Your Body and that link will take to that page...then go down the page a bit , on the left handside and look under ... Health During Menopause.. Scroll down to "What Are Hotflashes" and that will enlighten ya some hon..

When in the shower or tub, and I get a flash..I just turn the shower down a lot cooler..if in the tub, run cool water over my head and splash my face too. Then afterwards I gotta soap up again, because I got all sweating ...go figure.

Ack!! I'm not that way 24/7 but it does hit me sometimes and I wonder if it isn't due to lack of sleep and/or some of the medication I'm taking to sleep - specifically Benedryl. I know I do have "hangovers" when I take this and the last bout of lightheadedness sent me home from work (I was really having trouble maintaining my vertical hold and really felt like snapping at a patron who kept asking questions so I thought better bed than fired) blink.gif

I'm switching to blue skullcap for sleep (not so strong but once I'm asleep I stay that way - mostly) and it doesn't seem to have the rugged side effects benedryl does.

I'm also going to try the Oona stuff which is mostly black cohosh with some chaste berry (what a funny name - I wonder if the chaste part works hahahahahahaha).

Has anyone else had any luck with any of this?

is it right after your period, and in mid cyle?? That's when it happens to me. I've been taking valerian (natures vallium), St. johns wort, and inositol. works great! smile.gif

[IM ALWAYS LIGHT HEADED IN THE SHOWER. I TAKE A QUICK WARM BATH NOW & USE A SHOWER RADIO TO TRY TO CALM ME DOWN & RELAX. I ALSO USE LAVENDER SOAP . THAT HELPS OF THE SMELL TO RELAX ME & THE SOOTHING MUSIC. BUT BAD ANIXTY ATTACKS IM AFRAID OF FALLING SO I TAKE QUICK ONLY WARM (( NOT HOT ))) WITH LAVENDER SOAP FROM A HEALTH STORE. TRY LAVENDER SOAP...ITS SUPPOSE TO BE GOOD FOR ALL...HUGS FROM PEGGY SUE4]
