Does anyone know if stopping premarin after many years could cause your bad cholestrol to suddenly rise?
Snowbird
Gran, Hi!!

Interesting question!!smile.gifI took Premarin for 10 years....stopped it 2 years ago!! I do have high blood pressure....but not a cholesterol problem!! For me, stopping HRT didn't cause any adverse affects with cholesterol, at all!!However, maybe it has with someone else....and they can add to what I just posted....but I don't really think it does, (In my humble opinion,)

Take care.......................wink.gif(((((Hugs from Snowy)))))               Nancy

Hi Gran ,I agree with the humble Snowbird. I don't think it contributes to a higher reading.Did you fast long enough before the test? Also , have you been watching your cholesterol, intake and it has still gone up? What does your doctor think? Mine is hereditary with me adding a bad diet for so many years. Now I have to take meds to help me get back to normal. Just eating right hasn't done it. Plus one tip I was told by a lab technician. Drink lots of water before a test to get a true reading. Guess she knows what she's talking about . I will try it before my next test next month, just to see. hugs, jeanne

No, Jeanne, I am sorry to say that I was not watching my cholesterol levels before the test (silly me).  I did fast ( 1:00 p.m. appointment - didn't eat since the night before).  I'm having it checked again in 8 weeks and I'll try the water trick.  Thanks and have a great Labor Day!!
