OMG! I had the worst dizzy spell this morning! I was so lightheaded that I felt like I was going to collapse. This is the second time this happenned to me. I saw my caridologist the last time it happenned and everything was perfect. I'll call my doctor later on today. I took a xanax so I won't panic. Geez, this is so scary. BTW - I haven't had a period in almost 3 months and have been feeling GREAT. But the last couple of days I could feel my body *trying* to have a period if that makes sense.
Thanks for listening to my latest plight.

Did you used to get dizzy before your periods? I hadn't had a period in 13 months. One weekend I had such terrible PVC's and dizziness that I went to the ER! The following Wed., I got a period! Had everything checked out with my GYNO, biopsy - the works, and he said it was a normal period, and probably a hormone surge! My PVC's were always bad just before a period. I, too, take xanax for panic and have just started back on Zoloft. I would check with your dr. again - but I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone. This menopause stuff just stinks!! LOL

I typically get really dizzy right before my period. This felt a little different, like I was going to collapse.

I haven't had a period since June and I feel that my body is "trying". I've had lots of headaches, nightsweats, pelvic twinges.etc. I'd like to try for the full 12 months this time! p l e a s e

Well, I went to the doctor's and had an ekg which was normal. He thinks I have labrynthtitis, a middle ear disorder, which is apparently very common. He assured me it wasn't my heart nor am I having a stroke.

Gia,
Glad you had the test done and it was fine....has it made the dizziness go away? I was told that anxiety can cause the dizzies too. I am in a brain fog most of the day, but it seems like ativan makes it better...weird! If we could just put a date on when this stuff will go away, it would be so much easier to deal with!

Gia - We must be on the same cycle. I had been feeling great and thought AGAIN that this menopause crap had all been a bad dream, but today I got so dizzy while cooking dinner and felt like my BP had gone up. It did some - 150/90, but not like I felt it did. Heart was racing, legs got shaky, then I was nauseas. But just like you guys, took a half of a Xanax and laid down and I'm pretty okay now. It's so hard when you are going through it, because you are SURE this is something more than peri. How could hormones and adrenaline kick your butt like that. But 3 hours later, I'm still alive and not in the ER and the symtoms have subsidded mostly??? My doctor is doing an MRI next week just to put my mind at ease that I am not stroking. He and I both really think it will be a waste of time, but I want it done to reassure me. That's one of the many things I hate about this stuff is that I need to be reassured all the time. Period is 1 and 1/2 weeks late, but really who knows since it comes when it wants - maybe once every three months, maybe every month. So Gia, hang in there and I'll try to hang in there with you.

I would just like to share, that when I was having really bad dizzy spells, I called and talked with my Dr. She told me to make sure I was drinking enough water. Especially since Im on some meds.
I take Celexa at bedtime, and also if its a hard night to fall asleep, i will take 25 to 50 mgs. of trazadone. I also take xanax... .5mgs. when needed. plus my vitamins and herbs. ..Since I have increased my water intake to 72 oz. of water, I havent had any dizzies, (unless i stand up quick from bending over).
If you have a hard time drinking water, add a sqeeze of lemon, or lime or orange slices to it. That not only gives ya a citrus flavor but add a bit of vit. C! Also use a straw. When you wake in the morning try drinking some water before you even swing..(or drag your legs) to the side of the bed to sit up.
I am in no way saying it will cure ya, just try it, it sure has helped me.

Hello, newbie here. I had terrible dizziness and nausea last March and was taken to hospital (ER I think you call it?) They found nothing 'wrong' but the dizziness continued for 6 - 8 weeks, although not so bad as the first episode. It was labyrinthitis and was so horrible. Since then I have been having intense menopause symptoms. It frightened me terribly but thanks to finding this site and reading the info, I realise that this is probably all part of what we are going through.
I got very little help from my Doctor who kept giving me different anti-histamines in case they might help! They didn't. What is Xanax please? It sounds very helpful.
Hate this menopause stuff. Will cry at anything and yet snap at everyone.
