I'm experiencing perimeno symptoms - brain fog, irritability, more severe cramps, changes in period, sore breasts preperiod, mood swings, extreme fatigue. Furtunately, no night sweats or hot flashes yet.

I tried Estroven and didn't like it - it made me feel more anxious and shaky (similar to OTC diet pills). I know that it does work for many women, just not for me.

During a trip to Whole Foods Market (natural food store nearest me), I bought Soy Isoflavones and Black Cohosh. Was looking forward to trying them and potentially finding some relief from symptoms, but ...

as I read other areas on this site, I learned that these two ingredients are in Estroven. Now, I'm reluctant to use them for fear of again experiencing the same side effects I did with Estroven.

In short, have you tried anything over the counter (other than Estroven) that's worked for you in reducing perimeno symptoms, mainly brain fog and mood swings?

Appreciate any advice you can offer!

Just wanted to add ... I'm currently taking Calcium and Vitamin E supplements, and prenatal vitamins. A featured authori on this site indicated that she took prenatal vitamins, so I thought I'd give them a try.

Have found a good B-complex to be helpful with the anxiety stuff. Also, don't assume necessarily that the Black Cohosh and soy will cause the same side effects as Estroven did for you--there are a lot of other herbs, etc in the Estroven besides those 2 elements. But you might want to start at low doses if you choose to try them.

Hi,

I am currently taking Vit E, Evening Primrose Oil, Soy, and Calcium. I have suffered from hot flashes, mood swings, irritability, and most recent extreme tiredness. So far the Hot flashes have diminished as of this past weekend, so I must be taking the right combination. I am still however very tired, and kind of sleepy all day long. My mother told me that she when she was going through menopause that she has weeks when she just felt listless and cranky, but then she would always feel better after a few days. I am hoping and praying for the best.
