Hi Everyone!
I am 44 and feel I am in peri. I know there are a lot of symptoms our bodies go through, but I've noticed since I really started into this peri thing I am getting more spells of diarreah. I feel nauseated and bloated at times...and then other times I feel ok and no diarreah.
Is this a common periomenopause symptom too?
I know I have always gotten diarreah right before my period. My gyno says it's due to increased hormones in that area that travel into the intestines.
Thanks for your replies..this one has me curious now. Am I alone on this? <_<

Not me......I have NEVER been so constipated in my life!! I have to use benefiber in my coffee EVERY morning, and I also take a cod liver oil capsule once a day. Otherwise? I'm SURE I'd bind up and pop! I get HORRIBLE gas pains occasionally as well. It all just s*cks!

Yup the big D for me too and upset stomachs due to foods that never previously caused a problem...seafood,cheese,cream, onions. Things I love!

Hi Kleeo - Same here - constipation big time, all the time. I take antidepressants, which contribute to the problem, and use stool softeners which help a little bit.

Yep I get it too. Seems to be related to a lactose intolorance(sp). Sometimes it hits, sometimes it doesn't.

Kleeo--does the cod liver oil help?
I've just started taking enteric-coated peppermint, oregano, and caraway oils (single gel cap) which are supposed to take care of both diarrhea and constipation better than the drugs for IBS. These are symptoms of IBS but I know our hormone fluctuations can mimic IBS--my doctor actually volunteered this info before I even complained! She is also in peri so she is very sympathetic.
Hope the natural stuff works. I SO hate the bloat!

The big D has been just one of the many issues that hit me on my 38th birthday. Mom nature gave me a very special gift this year, LOL.

I don't have diarreah, but I go to the bathroom more frequently. I get bloated, big time, I look like I'm 3 or 4 months along. Cramps.
I'm 48 yrs old soon to be 49. My periods are now starting to get farther and farther apart. This time my period was 39 days out. Last one before that was 32 days out. So, hurray, I am finally showing some signs real signs and now I defintely know I am going through it.
I've had other women tell me that they have diarreah also. It's all part of the hormonal thing.
Take care.

Wow, this is the first time I have looked and read this forum. Man, here I thought that my "scoots" was from havin my gall bladder out, but there are times I get constipated right before I have a period. The last 2 times though I didnt, and I was surprised as all get out.
My kids and friends all know when I yell I gotta go, they clear the run way for me. I LOATHE it! It dont make no never mind neither what I eat.

I found last years diary and found I had marked the dates (with a pen!

) in the calendar section. And I'd had it a lot!
