In the morning when I wake up, the very first thing I feel are the muscle twitches and subtle spasms. It scares me because I worry that this could be multiple sclerosis or some weird neuro thing. It is almost like a mild body seizure.
Does anyone else feel twitchy and buzzy as they wake? Does this make you panic ?
I would think that my body would be more "normal" after sleep and that as the day wears on my symptoms will pop up. I know I do feel worse at night. But
it confuses me that I have symptoms even as I wake up.
Anyone else?

Hi suzy,
Yes, sometimes, the second I wake up I have butterflies in my stomach. It drives me nuts. The nerves are the thing that really get me. I feel like I can't eat/digest anything right. I get bloated. What a mess. I think I'm gonna be on this site every day from now on. I'm finally starting to accept these feeling for what they are. I drive myself crazy with health anxiety.

suzyq2,
There's a whole section in here of posts about the symptoms that you describe - twitching, internal shaking, vibrations, buzzing. Many of us share this with you. You are so right in how unnerving these symptoms are. I think most of us have feared MS of ALS, until we found this site and realized that this is a symptom of peri/meno.
The symtoms always seem to be more marked when you are sitting still or laying down. I think that is probably because you notice them more when you are still. I have been experiencing muscle twitches all over, feelings of a muscle about to spasm, internal shakes, and buzzing in my ankles for about a year now. I have found that taking magnesium supplements helps a lot, and I also take an anti-anxiety med that also helps. Anxiety actually makes these symptoms worse, and unfortunatly these symptoms tend to generate a lot of anxiety on top of what you may have already been experiencing.
What has helped the most is reading through the posts and realizing that many women are experiencing this, and that it is not some horrible disease.

Pixie girl,
Thank you so much for your kind post. I have been reading about the internal tremors and buzzing on power surge, in fact, that is how I ended up here one night. I googled "internal vibration" and this was one of the links.
It is totally unnerving to wake up to these bizarre sensations and have to start your day with thoughts of them. Which, sometimes leads to immediate anxiety for me. I can't (and won't) take anti-anxiety meds everyday but I am going to try some herbal supplements like 5-HTP, passionflower and kava.
Taking magnesium daily helps, but it does cause loose stools and there just isn't a close bathroom where I work.
Thanks for your comments.

Girls.
Isn't Pixie awesome! She has comforted me many times during hard times. I too have been dealing with twitching and such. I was such a mess in the beginning. I was confident that I had something seriously wrong. After many trips to different specialist I have concluded that this is peri. I was so amazed that peri could be like this. I was definitely unprepared for this jouney and am shocked that meno is presented like it is. No one really tells you what it is like. I have experienced many frightening symptoms and it's a very scary time. It is mentally and physically draining on top of everything else.
Hang in there ladies.....I've heard there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Alice-you are too funny. Your posts always make me laugh! Anyway, I have the twitching upon waking up also. I have had the twitching for almost a year now but it has subsided quite a bit. I had a period two weeks ago, only my second one this year, and for some reason the twitching was very bad during that time. It has just started to quiet down again. I don't want any more periods because they seem to stir up my symptoms. I do better when my periods don't show up so I am hoping no more...
