Has anyone experienced a "pins and needles" sensation like your leg is totally
alseep for a period of a couple of hours?
My left leg is numb from the knee down. I don't think I was in a strange position or anything that would make it do this ...
I was standing for 3 hours this morning at my son's high school to get a parking pass. Could that have done this?
I'm already in a mild panic because I have to go back to work as a teacher on Thursday, so this isn't helping.
Someone please respond !!

Suzyq,
Is it completely numb or just tingly? I have had numbness, usually upon awakening, which can take a while to go away, but not hours. It may be a pinched nerve, but honestly, if it is complete numbness and still going on after a couple of hours with no improvement, I would probably see someone just to make sure there is nothing preventing proper circulation into the affected limb.

Hi Suzy,
Funny you should post about this today. I just returned from the neuro because I was freaking out about my right arm and leg being numb and tingly. He thinks it might be something called "pressure point palsy". It happens most frequently in the AM after sleep from pressing on a nerve...maybe standing did it for you. I'm a teacher too and have extra anxiety about going back. Anxiety can make you numb and tingley too!
Hope your better soon.

Hey jphelp,
It's a little better now - probably 70% improved. It's scary though when you lose sensation in your leg or arm ! How are you feeling?
What grade? When do you go back to "kiddie h***"?"

Hi Suzy.
I teach Middle School art and am totally scared to go back. I've been on leave since all the health stuff started for me in jan. Is today your first day? What do you teach? I go back Monday.

jphelp,
I went back today. I'm just so wiped out from the stress of being back at school all day. We had 10 weeks off this summer and I got used to easy, QUIET days at home with my kids.
I teach second in an elementary school.
Middle school art, huh ?! Middle school anything would be tough ! Good luck next Monday.

i'll have one leg or the other do that, and it's usually ending up being a sciatic problem. a quick trip to the chiropractor seems to clear it up.

I'm not sure where to post this. I am new to this site but I've been feeling as if I am falling off of a pier that keeps getting shorter and shorter. I went through a bad divorce after many years of marriage and then I seemed to lose it all.....first came the down feeling and I was put on ADs but none worked, then this last year I got this brain thing....almost like I'm walking around in a fog...then the fatigue which is almost too much since I feel it all the way to my bones....I've been in therapy and I've moved on from my divorce.....I have a new man in my life that is just wonderful but I'm beginning to feel sorry for him since he has put up with hot flashes, mood swings and periods that are by no means regular. I also have had the numbness in my legs, feet and hands which have gone away. I am hoping that next week when I go to the doctor she will finally realize that I'm going through some kind of hormonal imbalance and not try to get me back on the ADs which did not work. My anxiety is gone ......thank goodness but the overwhelming fatigue is getting me down. By the way, I'm going to be 39 in a month and my mother says that she too felt all of the things that I'm going through from the time that she was 35 until she finally hit menopause at 49. (Goody.....only 10 more years of this!!!!)
Thanks for letting me vent.....
