Hi ladies,
I have this strange head pressure and it is realy starting to scare me sad.gif It has been with me for a week now.Ive had this once before about a yr ago and it was short lived. Its hard to explain but it seems to intensify under stress. It is always there almost like a feeling of adrenalin(sp) like on edge.I feel very tense, but im not?????.Any feedback would be much appreciated sad.gif sad.gif ohmy.gif this along with the constant offbalance/swaying feeling 24/7 has got me freaking HELP
Kleeo
Hey Che. I get weird head pressure sometimes, too. It's really hard to explain, almost fullness, headachey, pressure.............strange. Scares the bejeezus out of me EVERY time it happens, but it has happened SO often, and has always subsided, so I've written it off as yet ANOTHER hellish peri symptom. If it continues to bother you, mention it to your doc. He/She will probably tell you it's nothing to worry about, therefore alleviating your fears!
Feel better!
Hugs!

Thanks Kleeo,
You made me feel better. At least i dont feel like im going to die suddenly.I know that sounds horrible, but i start to feel that way.I hate this,im a mess.Last night i had my dear hubby (poor guy) really rub my neck it relieved soooo much tension. It helped.Since peri those muscles, seem so tense.I cant blame all of that on the dizzyness/off balance though. Does anyone think that pressure thing could be too much adrenaline,Causing a tense feeling.I get the head zapps too at times.
Boy, im a mess huh sad.gif Sorry for rambbling i guess im just worn out. This has been wearing on me. again, thanks kleeo wub.gif , back at ya.

That sounds exactly how I feel...I've noticed it's worse when I'm stressed....and rainy days and snowy days (like to have some of that right now biggrin.gif )...Someone told me the atmosphere pressure can be part of the pressure/fullness/achey feeling. My 42 yr. old brother has the pressure feeling at his head on the rainy/snowy days...and I don't think he's peri-meno. tongue.gif .... I do think the other "symptoms" are peri-meno. connected... And the pressure feeling at the head triples w/the peri-meno. fluctuating hormones. The pressure and fullness feeling is yukky.... But like most peri-meno. symptom - this too will go away laugh.gif . But when...oh please, someone tell me when biggrin.gif tongue.gif ....

Blessings,
Stacy

Hi Stacy,
A man with peri, just once please, just for one day laugh.gif
thanks so much for you reassurence.I did wonder if it was sinus, but this feels different this feels like tension, and fullness. It has been sooooo hot and humid here we have been going from one airconditioned place to the next with NO fresh air sad.gif Not good) I also have noticed that whenever i turn over in bed my nose plugs and unplugs depending what side im on,and yes i have had sinus headaches but not that often.Who knows,I give up ohmy.gif This feels more like a vise with no pain.

Yup che che - I've thougth the same thing at times. The sinuses are in the front of the face and on top of the head...which is where alot of pressure is. I can actually hear the "crack" sound at my nose when I roll over in the middle of the night...strange noise but a definately crack at the sinus areas... It helps a little bit to use a moisturizing nose spray to get rid of the drying nose. Family Dr. said a salt water combo works well too at the nose. Doesn't stop the pressure and fullness feeling though.

And I agree - let a man feel the peri-just one full day - they would feel differently. Well, maybe not - if I only had the symptoms for one day and that's it...I would think it's no big deal...In my next life - I'm going to a planet that men have menopausal - after all - it's started with MEN right laugh.gif .

But anyhoo, I think sometimes it feels better when your (and me too) validatd that it's peri-meno. symptom or just something like the weather...and it's nothing serious - just annoying.

Blessings,
Stacy

Stacy, thanks,
I agree that since peri everything is a a "big deal".I have never had anxiety
before peri, once in a blue moon.I wonder if this head pressure tense head feeling is anxiety. It comes out of no where,as im talking on the phone,or typing on the computer. It feels like head zapps at times.I feel so tense like clenched teeth.Weird blink.gif But there is no reason to feel tense.Does this make ANY sense?
SugarNSpice
Hi Lynda,
Everything you say makes sense. About 10 years ago (when I was 35 yoa) I had my first anxiety/panic attack - now 10 years later - the anxiety isn't everyday like it was in the beginning...The head pressure/fullness started about 5 years ago. Hmm,with the anxiety - maybe w/the head pressure/fullness type feeling -it definetly does cause allllot of stress - maybe your onto something Lynda...Interesting, very interesting wink.gif .

Head zaps - yes, I have that too - it's scary as heck when it happens... clenched teeth - yes, I have that too. I'm now conciously aware of it - so when I do it - I make myself relax the mouth/teeth/jaw area. Of course - at night when I sleep (when I do smile.gif ) and I'm unaware of clenching my teeth. My husband recommends to me that I wear a teeth protector at night when I sleep. It's the type that athletics wear to protect their teeth. So I may do that...

One thing I'm aware of too is...any symptom in peri. is a temporary problem...this too will go away biggrin.gif ...

Blessings,
Stacy

Had this problem off and on for awhile now and also thought it was sinus related. But after rereading my journal I know it happens with pms now. I have tmj so bad the Iast two years I have to wear a sprint at night.

I have the pressure in the head feeling and for me it seems to always be associated with stress and some hormonal thing. It seems to happen and then I can’t take anything stupid being said.. then I am off to the races with a quick answer, something I would never do before. I know it is hormonal as it is always around the time I need a break from the progesterone. I told the doctor about it I asked her if my testosterone was too high as it hasn’t dropped just my estrogen and progesterone. She said it could be.
The one good thing is I can think fast on my feet when this happens (absolutely no brain fog then) tongue.gif At first I found it scary but now I just stop the progesterone and stay away from stupid people as much as possible.

Stacy, you have helped alot.Today im alot better,Must be hormones calming a bit,or im chillin more wub.gif
Lynda

Hi barb, I read your post and its funny i was thinking,"Could this be to much testosterone" I was thinking, is this what guys feel like when they are aggressive. It felt, to me, like what a guy feels like when hes ready to fight.I knew it felt foreign to me but i couldnt put my finger on it.Its an idea.
You are so right about quick answers almost cockey(sp).quite a change from the old brain fog.
Thanks,
Lynda

Hi Ladies,

Don't really know where to post this, I posted somewhere else and Mary P responded but now I can't find her response (wanted to read it over), Anyway, I too get the head pressure though it not quite as intense but I do have this heaviness and sometimes intermittent pressure at the base of my skull still.

The newest symptoms that I have is like I am hearing a"whinning sound", I guess the best way to describe it is tinnitus and a general noise senstivity (everthing seems to sound louder). I am not experiencing ear pain or pressure. It became more noticeable this Saturday night and it is really affected my sleep. I am not sleeping well; I have an appointment with several doctors this week.

If anyone else is experiencing this, please tell me its another peri symptom and will eventually pass. I am a nervous wreak, thinking it may be more serious like a brain tumor or something that is permanent and will never go away.

Thanks for listening. I am in peri though I know my hormones are definitely changing in that I had two (2) period last year.

Please respond to this section or PM me directly. I really appreciate any help.

I, likewise, have tinnitus which comes and goes and general everyday noises seem to have gotten louder. I am sure, as my body is attempting to rewire itself, this too shall pass.
plumeria
Sybilleruth,

Thanks for your response. My head pressure is better today, and the tinnitis seems to be less (maybe I a getting use to it) or leass panicked today.

Are you in peri also? I definitely think our brain is being rewired at this time and hopefully we'll all get better as things settle.

Thanks again,

Actually I am four years post. Unfortunately the symptoms did not abate once into post and they switched more from mental to physical symptoms, which have a tendency to excite the mental aspects of this entire transition. Primarily the "what-ifs" and the exaggeration of anything that affects me in life. But...I breathe and more or less have learned to cope and "ride" with whatever is causing me "grief."

Hi Ladies,

For those of you experiencing the head pressure, do any of you have high blood pressure? Also, are any of you hearing loud noises, like very loud crickets, ringing sound, etc.? I took my blood pressure today and it was 122/54 and about a month ago it was 110/70. The bottom number 54 seems odd to me but the doctor didn't think so.

I am hearing this really loud cricket sound (high pitch intermittent sound)...my God I feel I'm going crazy. I mentioned it to my husband and he just looked at me like I was crazy.

I hope I can sleep tonight as this noise will definitely keep me up. I am already tired from the lack of sleep since Saturday.

Please help anyone. I am so scared this will not stop.

Fruity I get the head pressure, and i dont have high blood pressure...

I have shared with you about the crickets and a constant ring in my ears hun..

IT will get better...
plumeria
DaMomma,

Thanks for responding, I think I am just very panicked right now. My doctor made an appointment for me to get my ear's checked and also to see a specialist
(Ear, Nose and Throat) doctor ...my imagine runs wild and I am thinking a brain tumor that is affecting the nerves on my ear.

I sometimes fill a fullness in my ear also, do you feel this?

Even after after the head pressure for over 10 months now, it still freaks me out.
I took two (2) advils last night but I don't think it helped at all.

Take care and thanks again,
Plumeria

Hi Ladies,

For those of you experiencing the head pressure, do you notice it getting worse before your period and even a few days after your period or has it gotten worse with irregular periods. My periods as of the past two months have been awful, I had two (2) in November and then two (2) in December within 10 days of each other.

I know periods will get irreguar but I wish there would be more time in between periods. It has been just horrible...

With my head pressure, I feel a fullness in my head that can last anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes and then a release of the pressure with sweating...this must be a form of hot flash, sometimes I'll have noticable ringing (whinning) in the head with the pressure.

Anyway, Happy New Year and God Bless you Ladies!

I too have bearable head pressure, couldnt tell you if i have a headache or not just the feeling that someone is squeezing my head, i never dreamed it too had something to do with peri but lo and behold i started today (week late) and i feel somewhat better, this is the craziest thing, my 2006 resolution is to stop going to the doctor so much, i would hate to know how many times i went in 2005 and the sad thing is it was for something different almost every time,

Thanks for listening, this board is a life saver..

Seeing as I have Chronic Sinusitis, that head pressure is very familiar to me. The pressure does vary from time to time during the month and in different weather conditions. There are conflicting reports on whether weather and low and high pressure systems, affect your sinuses and the pressure inside of them and thus inside your head, or not. I soundly believe that Weather is a contributing factor as well may be hormones. If hormones are responsible for the inability to have migraine headaches when one is pregnant, then why not being responsible for headaches and foggy heads when they are raging throughout your body. wacko.gif
Well, we're about to get another snow storm tonight, and I can feel the low pressure system in my sinuses and the general feeling is that I will have a sinus headache later on this afternoon. I'll give it another 1/2 hour to a full hour and if the symptoms are still there, I'll use my Advil Sinus. "analgesic & anti-inflamatory".

Blow your noses ladies, it might help. ha ha laugh.gif

The head pressure I am experiencing is not like a sinus pressure at all. It is like a
someone is stretching a rubber band starting at the base of my skull and stretching it and then releasing it, sometimes I will experience dizziness and a whinning sound in my head and sweating.

Anyway, just checking to see if any of you can relate. This has been a very hard month for me and though I hope 2006 will be better, I have a feeling for me its going to be another challenge.

Take care everyone and Happy New Year! I do hope everything will be better for me and all of you ladies.

I have been having a pressure feeling behind my eyes. It almost feels like I am getting a sinus headache but don't. I do have a problem when it rains or snows out but usually I will get the headache. I have had this off and on for a few months. Maybe it does have something to do with the weather since it did snow today. I guess I should keep track of when it happens.

Hi Plumeria,
Is your pressure accompanied by blurred vision? The snapping rubber band feeling, somehow sounds and feels? familiar. Usually I find that I have blurred vision at the same time. I kind of narrowed the headaches down to two kinds for me. If there's pressure behind my face, or an ache in my jaw, then it's a sinus headache. If it feel like I'm wearing a hat that's way too tight, or the feeling you get when your glasses don't fit at the side of your head just right, then that one is a tension headache.

I don't know if these are familiar analogies for you.

Linderful

How long can a tension headache last? When you talked about a hat that was too tight that describes the pain on top of my head to a tee?
sybilleruth
The barometer may affect people and if gets low, people affected are usually miserable. I know the winter months can be tough on me, at times.
plumeria
Linderful,

The head pressure is accompanied sometimes with ringing in the head and dizziness during my period. I use to have dizziness and blurred vision also.

I one time I was so scared I was getting a stroke.

I am soooo glad to have found this thread and this site. I have had pressure on one side of my head for about 6 months now. The doctors have run CAT scans, MRIs, regular x-rays, etc. Nothing shows up in my head and sinus x-rays--well there is a brain there biggrin.gif , but no pathology--and my neck shows a lot of degeneration. The sensation definitely gets worse prior to my menses and when I would be ovulating. During this 6 month interval, my cycle has shortened and my flow became just spotting. This month I have had horrible PMS symptoms, but no discharge so far.

I'm convinced this is linked to being perimenopausal, but my doctors don't seem to know what to do. Any ideas or suggestions.

Hi all. I too have the awful head pressure. I've had panic disorder with agoraphobia more years than I want to count and this seems to be a manefestation of that. Also I'm very dizzy and off-balance most of the time.

I also have something else strange going on which I haven't seen on these boards or anyplace else. I have a dent on top of my skull towards the back of my head. I don't know if it's from an injury or something else. The doctors don't seem to have a clue as to what this might be. If anyone has any ideas or something similar please let me know.

Thanks bunches.
