periweary
Ok I have been dealing better with my list of peri symptoms and BAM a new feeling has arrived. Late at night when I am laying down I can feel my blood flowing threw my veins in my neck. Please tell me that there is someone out there that has experienced this. I do not have high blood pressure but I have been suffering from anxiety, thanks to peri. Maybe I am just so aware of every feeling and sensation in my body now that I am now able to notice this. I dont know how much more of this I am able to take. I am tierd of worring my self sick. my goose is cooked......this fat lady has sung.

Yup! And when sitting. Sometimes I think it sounds too slow! Could it be the heat and maybe the sound from the pulse is from the back of the ear?
MaryP
Yes, there are definately times when I can feel my heart beat and blood flow - I think it is both things - partially because of the palpatation type things in peri and partially because anxiety of symptoms makes us hyper-vigilant and hyper-aware of every body sensation

Periweary, I have had this for years. I told the doctor about it and he didn't look concerned. He listened to the arteries in my neck and then didn't say anything. The receptionist at his office said she has it too.

Years later I had a Doppler (ultrasound) done of my neck arteries to make sure they were clear because I was seeing flashing lights. They were fine. I think this is just another weird, undefined thing that we get as we age. I've found that I don't hear it if I lie down on a foam rubber pillow, so that's what I sleep on.

I would mention it to your doctor the next time you go, but I wouldn't be concerned about it. We are all just getting to the age when we notice things changing more, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are harmful.

Hugs,
Meryl

Hey to all,

Yes, I've had this too - about a year and half ago. I told me doctor and she scheduled an ultrasound of my carotid (neck) arteries. They were clear !

Isn't it strange how perimenopause/menopause is probably causing all these bizarre symptoms?!!

I too have had this, but it occurs when I'm in bed. For instance, if I lay on side, I can hear my blood pulsate in my ear. It's frankly more annoying than scary.

Putting a sound machine right beside your bed helps alot....the louder it is,the less chance of "hearing" what's going on inside your body.

I notice this too, but it's also in my head and up the back of my neck. Have had numerous testing done lately, and everything is fine, meaning nothing serious. I do know that for some reason during this change, the blood flow sorta congregates into the chest, neck and head. That's what brings about a hot flash, or at least why we get all red. I get flushed on my chest too, really red, when I get worked up about something. Bummer ~ cuz sometime people look at me and start to get concerned and say "Did you know your chest is turning beet red?" I just reply, it's hormones!! This change sure can be a scary time. I'm working on fear issues in a huge way - and I know God is trying to teach me to "Be not afraid". I'm walking the walk and talking the talk - but honestly somedays the fear gets the better of me.

Wow, am I glad to read this one! It means someone else is experiencing what I am. When I sit still I can feel the blood pulsing through my body. I don't hear it as much as feel it. My blood pressure has just recently elevated slightly (around 139/84) but I'm also getting what I think are heart palpitations and that shaky woozy feeling. I think it's all related to peri, but I'm brand-new at this. Still researching - this site is a godsend!

Hi Janezp,

OMG i have posted a while ago this exact symptom>If you go to my profile and hit on members post and search through the many Ive posted you will see this weird symptom, among many, was very prevalent at the time.

It would feel exactly like a pulsing, very slight all through the body.I would try to see if it coincided wit my heart beat but i couldn't tell.

It used to be all the time for me for a good yr and has since calmed, although i still get it from time to time.I feel it most when I'm quiet and lying in bed.

Another symptom i had for a yr straight was the off balance light headed feeling 24/7.This symptom Finally eased significantly for a couple of mos but has returned recently, although its less intense.

I'm sure i will be revisited with some of the symptoms that have passed,as i still have a period, very light and less regular,so i suspect ill see the Up and down of symptoms until my hormones become more balanced.

Thanks for your posts. You will find MUCH comfort in this site and a world of helpful professional information.

I have that pulsating too. I feel it in my chest, neck, legs, sometimes arms and even stomach. Very disconcerting.

Yup - sometimes I can feel my whole body pulsing/thudding - I can feel pulsing in my neck, stomach, chest, head (very disconcerting)

It feels lilke your BP is up and your head is going to burst

My pulse also feels very slow sometimes - I try to stop myself checking my pulse -cos people look at me a bit weird in the supermarket. I tell myself - "if you are still stanidng up and thinking - your heart is still beating - get a grip" - it works most times!!!

Mel,LOL, laugh.gif

I do the same thing,I think OK I'm still standing and walking why do i feel very little pulse??.

And yes , then there are other times i think my head will explode, there is a strange pressure not pain just pressure, and if I'm stressing or in a rush its worse.

Its as if there is no room for the stress as if anything will drive the pressure right up. I wonder if thats when the testosterone is up??

Its strange because its not always there, its like it can be that way for 2 wks or maybe a mo. and then not be like that for mos. It comes and goes <_<

You too???
take care,
Lynda

What a relief to find out that others have this same symptom! biggrin.gif I've been experiencing the pulsating in my neck and sometimes in my ears, primarily when I'm sitting and lying down, for about a month now. Usually when I get up and walk around or take some deep breaths it will subside. I've just assumed it's from stress and anxiety due to peri and life itself. I'm a runner with good B/P, so I haven't been too concerned about its being a cardio problem. It's always good to know you're not alone, which is why this site is awesome! This is my first post in a very long time, but its good to know you all are here when needed. smile.gif

Hi Che Che and everyone

I have had a super fun 'pulsing day' at work today - my 'inner bubble' (which is what it feels like a lot of the time) has been expanding and contracting - pressure up - pressure down - pressure up - pressure down. I try to explain to my Dr - he is a sweetie and he does try to understand (bless) - but he just looks at me with a slightly quizzical eye most of the time.....

Glad I am not the only one who does a 'wo I'm still here' check. My body drives me nuts with 'symptoms' - then suddenly everything goes quiet (perhaps that is what it was like before I hit peri??? - cant remember!!).

Like you I hope every day I will go 'back to normal' - but I have gotten somewhat used to living in this alien body - which is why I panic if I can't feel my head pounding, my heart thumping, my blood coursing, my wind popping, my brain spinning, my innards shaking.......

Must dash - my hearts just playing up and I dont want to miss checking I am still here!!
