Help
I have posted before that I am getting hives that seen to be related to heat and hot flashes.
I am on a bio-identical prescribed progesterone I have been taking Benadryl at night and I tried Alegra . The Benadryl works the best but makes me dozy so I am ok when I wake up but it starts all over again. The Alegra makes me hyper which triggers the panic attacks. Someone on the live chat last night recommended Flonase. I have never heard of that for hives but I will ask my doctor.
Has anyone experienced anything like this…or should I be looking into a new allergy I may have acquired as I have not changed anything.
I can drink a glass of wine in fear of needing medication…it is controlling my life. I am crazy enough without rash and being ichy....
Thanks Barb sad.gif

Couldn't the hives be from the progesterone? I get hives from many meds and, if I discontinue them, they usually go away. Perhaps a different progesterone might be better for you.

Hi, Barb! I'm sorry to hear about the hives. I've been getting hives periodically since I got hit with a sudden flood of perimenopausal symptoms last winter. The hives always appear on the same spots on my face--a certain spot on the forehead, a certain spot on the chin. I've read that hives are a symptom of perimenopause. My hives were bad in the dead of winter. I'm not allergic to anything. I can't imagine that mine would be related to any sort of allergy.

Hives can also be caused from anxiety....has your doctor done any allergy tests on you to see if they are an allergic reaction to anything?

Thanks Fogybrained and jadebear ….I have been tested and it seems to be the heat it is really hot out today every time I go outside I get the hives when I stay in they go away. My doctor suggested anxiety as well but I have been doing well with that since the progesterone was increased. I either wake up after the night sweats covered or the heat from out side… thank God for air-conditioning! I love to garden I have a large veggie garden …but I don’t want to take benadryl all the time. It used to knock me out now I can function on it. unsure.gif
Thanks Barb
