I've been having a little trouble lately with the "fluttering" sound or a "buzzing" noise in my ear - lasts only a short while, but is very anoying while it's going on.  Was talking to my mother and she says that her's roars all the time.  We were wondering if this is a problem and is there any way we can fix it??

Thanks for all your help.  I really like these forums

Hi quilter,As you can see I put all the symptoms known , of course there may be others . No. 35 is what concerns you , so yes it can be from menopause, but there are a number of causes for ear noise and I'd rule out all the others before I'd blame it on menopause. It might be something that can be helped with medications.Your mother also. So please check with a doctor. Maybe you don't need to put up with this at all, and wouldn't that be a nice bonus?take care let me know how it turns out, hugs, jeanne

Hi Quilter,

I have had tinnitus for about ten years or so.  I have learned to live with it....mine was related to sinus and allergy....had all the hearing tests etc.   Exposure to loud sound can trigger it as well.

If your comes and goes, that is encouraging that it is not permanent.

I think antidepressants have helped some people, but there is a wealth of information at the American Tinnitus Association.   I would guess they have a website but don't know for sure.

I have sound sensitivity as well as routinely take my earplugs with me to movies and loud functions....this started at the same time as the ringing.

I do notice my tinnitus increases in loudness with caffeine or preservatives (sodium sulfite).

Hope this helps....smile.gif

Hi, Believe it or not, breathlessness, and tinnitus were my first symptoms--I'm 41 and have a long and dubious realtionship with my hormones. I find that meditation, yoga, some homeopathic remedies have helped. Take care, sweeties! Su

Su, I just bought a combination herbal/homeopathic called Clear Tinnitus. Have you heard of it? It helped the health food store lady I know... I have the bottle but have not used it yet. When I called the 800 number, the people there said the remedy was first used for sinus and congestion and people noticed it helped their tinnitus.... I have been helped by a homeopathic called china or chinchona before and this has it as one of the ingredients. If anyone tries it and is helped, please let me know.

Boy I have a lot of the symptoms including tinnitus. I've been struggling with dizziness for months now. I tapered off prozac and blamed alot of my symptoms, like dizziness and tinnitus on it. This list was an eye opener. I did have the dizziness checked out and the MRI and other tests showed normal.

I have had vertigo for a few weeks now, and thought it might be stress related. Talked to a doctor who gave me allergy nasal spray for it, but somehow I thought it must be menopausal, and now I think I'm right. I am very sensitive to sounds now, and high pitched sounds irritate me. I remember when my children were very young, I had the same sensitivity to sound, and felt that it must be hormonal. Anyone have vertigo?

I have had dizziness once in a while-----i heard that the mineral magnesium can help with tinnitus ring in the ears. i have had this also. magnesium seems to help. stress and certain meds can increase ringing in the ears and decrease our magnesium as well as all the other supplements.-----so we really need to take extra supplementation if possible. darling:)
