Our tax dollars are still being spent to provide economical assistance for erectile dysfunction meds!!!!! Someone tell me, why has medication used to relieve horrible symptoms of menopause been overlooked??? Just recently, I was astounded when I called the pharmacy for a refill of my bioidentical hormone medication and told that I "first" had to pay a $200.00 medication bill accumulated after my insurance carrier "decided" after 3 months that they would no longer cover bioidenticals and the carrier back dated their decision and none of my meds were covered.

Then my girlfriend told me that her husband who has the same insurance uses the same pharmacy and his Rx for viagra was paid partially by an "erectile dysfunction" government program, then this sameinsurance carrier paid the remainder in 'FULL". "WHAT THE '#$%^"?????

My hat is off to you women who attempt to "brave" it through these symptoms but I find it impossible, as do some of my friends. We have written many letters to congress regarding this injustice and have heard nothing. Women ! we can not continue to be complacent when it comes to 'our' comfort at this time in our lives. I laugh every time I see a pharmaceutical company's commercial "projecting" sexual dysfunction medication towards women when all the **** have to do is provide free meds "balancing these "d#@m" hormones as they do viagra for our male mates. (do not write me about male bashing, cause this is not what this is about).

It is about taking charge of our own lives because they are not going to help......

Hey Need Relief,

AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!!!!! mad.gif

I am completely with you on this!!! It is infuriating that medication for erectile dysfunction is covered in so many medical plans, while women pay for their own birth control, or hormone relief. It is WRONG.

Completely screwed up! Hmmmmm - who is making these decisions? The segment of the human race that is TESTOSTERONE-driven...

Thanks for laying this out.

Did anyone read (was in our local paper on Saturday) about a bill banning Viagra and the like from Medicare and Medicaid? It really is not crucial to health, and it would save the taxpayers more than a million per year (can't remember the exact figure).

But the most INTERESTING thing in the article was that over 800 registered sex offenders have been getting Viagra, etc. paid for by either Medicare or Medicaid for some years now. Just what a sex offender needs: Viagra! And some of our representatives voted against taking it away from them, which kind of surprised me that anyone would think it is a good idea?

I still have the paper somewhere; if anyone is interested in details I'll refer to it.

I had to find the article mentioned above. The Associated Press said, "The provision came in response to outcries after it was revealed that almost 800 registered sex offenders in 14 states have been receiving taxpayer-funded impotence drugs through Medicaid. That prompted other states to search their databases."

But the prohibitions of impotence drugs to anyone (including law-abiding men) being covered by Medicaid and Medicare was approved by the House (285-121 vote). Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa said his amendment would save taxpayers $105 million next year alone." So I was WAY off in the savings (I said more than one million)!

The Rep said, "We don't force taxpayers to pay for face-lifts, weight-loss drugs, hair-growth treatment or vacations, so we should not force them to pay for sexual-performance drugs. Medicare and Medicaid were established to provide lifesaving medication for the truly needy."

Sounds right to me.

To me, too, Aimee.

Thanks for sharing the news that SOMEONE IS GETTING SOME COMMON SENSE. ohmy.gif
