This dizziness is about driving me crazy. I don't feel confident driving and lately seem to find ways to get driven places when it's available to me. When I'm really having a problem I get disconnected with my body and don't feel like I'm even IN my body. Anyone else experiencing this and what exactly is happening?? I've noticed many gals talking about having ear issues so I'm wondering if this hormone imbalance and change affects the lymphatics in the ears.....causing dizziness?? Something to ponder. I'd feel better knowing that others are feeling this too. Thanks!!

On one of the dizziness threads...can't remember which one, unfortunately...someone (of course can't remember who blink.gif ) mentioned neck tension as a cause of dizziness, and that meno increases neck tension. I realized then that I had severe neck tension but just thought it was stress, and thought I would work harder on relaxing those muscles to see if it affected my dizziness. It has! biggrin.gif

I was getting to the point that you're at, afraid to drive or go to work...I would walk across the street chanting silently to myself "don't fall down, don't fall down, don't fall down" heehee.

Anyway, I had a doctor's appointment today to ask about it, after the Meclizine had not worked, and cancelled it because the relaxation has truely helped.

So, if you have a lot of tension in the neck area, maybe try relaxing and stretching (slowly) and see if it works. The Meclizine supposedly works for some and is available over the counter, but also knocks you out. I still have a lot of neck tension, but just beginning to consiously relax it has helped with the dizziness tremendously.

Wow thankyou so much!! I AM having pretty incredible neck tension. Had a massage last week and it helped - I plan to go back!! I didn't really think about that aspect of the dizziness, but it really does make sense. Since my neck tension has come on my dizziness has increased. I'll try the relaxation you mentioned and do some stretching. We were at my Mom's all day today, the kids and I, being I take Monday's off. Mom and Dad live at the lake so we had a fun day. Later this evening we planned to take a walk and I told the kids I was starting to feel dizzy and didn't know if I could manage, but went anyway. My neck was so tight at that time, as we walked I was stretching my neck down and side to side trying to loosen it up. I really appreciate you taking the time to enlighten me further - I do believe there is a huge link here between my neck tension and the vertigo!! Thank you thank you !!

I hope it works for you! biggrin.gif Please update to let us all know if it has.

Also I put horse linament on my neck and it helped it to relax. Have a great night!

I can't believe, at 35 years old, that I'm excited about having found a way to take a shower without bracing myself against the wall for fear of falling, but I am.

The relief of the neck tension has been a godsend, and in just a few days.

BTW, this advice was given by Ruth W in this thread: http://www.power-surge.com/php/forums/inde...wtopic=6311&hl=

Thanks Ruth, and I hope it works for all the other dizzy women on this site! biggrin.gif

My vertigo seems to come when I move my eyeballs, without moving my head.
If I look to the side to my left or to my right, up or down, while keeping my head in a forward position. I feel like a really thick elastic band has been pinged, (Snapped) inside my head. And then follows the water ripple feeling of dizzyness. I got new glasses for close reading and a second pair for distance and driving, but no help. I am seeing my GP tomorrow and am going to ask for some kind of Brain Scan because I just can't take this last symptom. i've got too many as it is.

I have been dizzy for 2+ months now. Mine is when I move my head left/right, up/down, though my head feels "funny" at all times. I ended up doing a brain MRI, which shows no issues. Neuro thinks its related to a viral infection I had; however, that is because for him, dizziness is either related to your brain or inner ear. Since my brain is okay, then it must be inner ear. I did have him do a blood test, with results passed to my gyno. FSH 3.8, estrodiol 40, so gyno says no peri/meno. Worse, when I went for my annual, during all of this, she emphatically said dizziness is definitely not a symptom of meno. Which is what sent me to the urgent care, to the neuro, etc....

But a friend of mine whose dh is a doctor, said she started with light headedness, ended up with severe vertigo, and of course, I had seen her sweat as though someone had a hose on her head (and her face was so red). She was told that in fact a small % of women do get dizzy, and once she did HRT, it stopped immediately.

Wish I could help more - my dizziness is still here, I also get an upset tummy with it. I am glad I did the brain MRI (kind of dumb to assum meno if it was a honking big old tumor, huh?), but am still thinking so what is this for sure? Interesting thought that something hormonal could mess with your inner ear, though... I mean, I understand my neuro thinks its an ear leftover from the virus, but again, that is just his "guess", given that brain is okay and he knows zero re meno and its effects (should have freaked him and told him ALL of my other symptoms). I will go search ear issues here.
